pam Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Most Utahns are unaware that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints owns one of the biggest ranches in the country — and it's nowhere near the Beehive State. Because of its prominent location, millions have seen the ranch without realizing what it was. But managers are opening the curtain; they have a message they want the public to hear. Jennarator Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Been there while on my mission. It is huge and pretty cool. Got to eat the rarest steak I have ever had before, while there. But it was really fresh! Haha! Quote
pam Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Posted May 19, 2011 I understand there are also missionary service opportunities at this ranch. To be honest this is the first I had heard of it. Just really amazing how much the Church is involved in different things. Quote

pam Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Posted May 19, 2011 I don't even remember where it was, but years ago I was driving by miles and miles of apple orchards. I finally saw a sign that said "Owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints." Quote
Backroads Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 I remembering reading about this this very morning! I had never known anything about it. Quote
MarginOfError Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 I learned about this ranch from an elder who was trying to show off his knowledge of the church. I said, "That makes sense--Joseph Fielding Smith said that animal sacrifice would be restored before the Second Coming, so we'll need to get the cows from somewhere." He didn't seem impressed by my analysis. Quote
pam Posted May 31, 2011 Author Report Posted May 31, 2011 We're headed to Florida on a fam vacation the end of this month - anyone know if this ranch has a visitors center? tours? can you post a link / phone# etc. etc. of who I could contact? Thanks! Here is the website. It doesn't mention anything about visitors center. But there is a "contact us" option. Deseret Ranches Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Barely....Haven't heard much from Beefche since then, come to think of it. Hopefully she didn't give the last full measure of devotion to satisfy anyone's hunger . . . Quote
