NeuroTypical Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) I know legalizing marijuana tends to be a passionately-debated topic here. I think that's partially because so many of y'all live in Utah, and don't have any experience with the fact that it's already legal to one extent or another in 16 states. Folks on the 'keep it illegal' side of the debate are losing. You folks see those guys out by the side of the road waving signs around advertising businesses, right? Here in smoky Colorado, we now see guys waving signs pointing to medical marijuana stores. And by "Medical Marijuana", I mean "It's legal to go get a toke now, whether you have a medical condition or not." That's how things are playing out in this state, and probably many others.Anyway, here is a news story about proposing legislation to set a blood-content threshold allowing someone to be charged with a DUI if they are 'too high'. They're still fighting over what 'too high' means. Edited September 7, 2011 by Loudmouth_Mormon Quote
JudoMinja Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 They're still fighting over what 'too high' means.I imagine it will be determined in a fashion similar to how the alcohol level was determined. They'll have a number of citizens drive a test course at various stages of a "high" to determine when their driving becomes so impaired as to be hazardous. As far as the legality of marijauana is concerned... this is something I've often thought about. I see a blatant double standard when comparing the legality of marijauana to that of alcohol and tobacco, and I think a decision needs to be made one direction or the other- Either they should all be deemed illegal, or they should all be deemed legal.Practically speaking- we've seen what happens when alcohol is made illegal, so it would probably be better to just legalize it. While I may not personally agree with such a decision morally, I think it is what is eventually going to happen. My question is- when/if we do reach a point where marijuana is entirely legal, what will the stance of the WoW be on it? As far as I can tell, the only thing that makes it against the WoW is the fact that it is illegal... I don't think anyone should be using it for recreational purposes, just as people shouldn't be smoking cigarettes, but I can't seem to wrap my head around where this would actually fit into the WoW. Guest Godless Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 It's been my experience that driving high is usually a lot safer than driving drunk. This legislation is probably a good idea though. Quote
MarginOfError Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Wouldn't it be easier to outlaw eating while driving? Quote

Most of us have not seen what happens if its made illegal. And we really dont know the effects what such would do (i highly doubt it would be as bad as many make it out to be...but i also think that it would vary from location). Alcoholic beverages are still illegal in quite a few places in alaska. As for the WoW, marijuanna I imagine would be right alongside other potent drugs and anaesthetics. Quote
