little_dog Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Ok, cheesy thread title, but hey! My name is little_dog! I am an LDS member and got bored at work. So here is where I ended up :) Pleaseure to meet you all!! Quote
JudoMinja Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Yay for boredom at work! Such explains quite a bit of the time I spend on this site. Quote
Jennarator Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 I'm in the same boat. That's why I'm here. Quote
pam Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Wow am I the only one that does any work around here? Everyone else is on the internet. Quote
Jennarator Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Guess so, Pam. Belive it or not I have been busier at work but I still have time for lds.net. :) Quote
pam Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 It's probably a really good thing that we don't have the internet at work. Quote
JudoMinja Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 It's probably a really good thing that we don't have the internet at work.Ok, this actually did get me laughing out loud. It's a good thing I'm off in a corner with nobody to wonder what I suddenly found so hysterical. Of course, it'd be nice if I actually had something more productive to do... though that would take away from my time on here, . Quote
pam Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Very happy that I could amuse you. :) Quote
JudoMinja Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Is it bad that I use the computer at work to do job searches for other work that, if I get hired, will cause me to leave this very job whose computer I'm using to do this? Quote
JudoMinja Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Or is it just a sign that I don't have enough to do? Quote
Dravin Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Is it bad that I use the computer at work to do job searches for other work that, if I get hired, will cause me to leave this very job whose computer I'm using to do this?Such use is usually contrary to company policies where company policies concerning computer use exist. You never know without reading the policy or asking the owner/someone in a position to deicide though. Quote
JudoMinja Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 I'm pretty sure such use is contrary (in most cases) to company policies where company policies concerning computer use exist. You never know without reading the policy or asking the owner though, some crack down such that checking your email during a break is against policy, and others don't mind you checking Facebook if there is a lull and other things are done.Yeah, I've checked up on the policy here. Basically, as long as everything I'm supposed to be doing is done, I can use the computer for "personal use" as long as I'm not visiting any blocked sites- which I can't visit anyway since they're blocked, lol. This was actually part of the reason I was so happy with the job when I initially got it- I was working on finishing my degree online and spent a lot of time at work doing my class work. Now that I'm finished with my degree though, I get bored...I even do a bunch of "extra" stuff that's not in my job description just to have more to do, and I finish it all too quick. They can't find enough stuff to keep me busy.It just seems wrong... to use the "work" computer to look for "other" work.... Quote
Spartan117 Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 I worked for Mass Mutual for a few months and there was a group of people who installed WoW on their work computers and played WoW at work. That didn't end well. Quote
