john doe
Anything interesting to do or good places to eat? I'm going there on business next week, don't want to get bored out of my skull at night. I guess I could go to the beach, but that is a little ways away. sister_in_faith
Nope, just a bunch of those pesky Canadians. Oops, wrong Ontario... In reading up on the fine city in question I found this little tidbit of information that may interest you... A 1941 Ripley's Believe It or Not! cartoon listed Ontario's picnic table as the "world's longest. Heck yeah. Check that out and report back. bytebear
Ontario is no where near the beach. There is a big outlet mall there, Ontario Mills. Other than that, there are cows and factory warehouses. Edited November 26, 2011 by bytebear
pam
I was going to mention the big outlet mall there. That's the only thing I could think of there.

Other than that, there are cows and factory warehouses.I'll have a car, and will be done by 4:00pm most days. By the map it's not that far to Newport Beach. I figure about an hour or so each way if I go. I've been to outlet malls before, they hold no draw for me.
sister_in_faith
What about the picnic table?!? TELL me you are going to check that out!
bytebear
If you are going to travel, you have a lot of choices for beaches. In fact, you are as close to LA as you are to the beaches of Orange County, so you have a wide variety of places to go. Each beach has a different vibe. annewandering
Beaches alone arent much fun. I admit I would be checking out the picnic table. Imagine something like that for the ward 4th of July party!
john doe
Since it was from 1941 it's probably condemned as used as firewood by now. Well, if it's farmland maybe I can go cow-tipping at night. Beefche, don't call your cousins and warn them.
annewandering
Now you really need to go see if the picnic table is still there. Please take photos if you do!!OK I have to agree its not there anymore. You can see the original photo on an old ebay listing. The thing was 2 miles long! No doubt the table was actually a number of tables attached together.1940 Press Photo picnic table Ontario California 2-mile | eBay Edited November 26, 2011 by annewandering

skippy740
Having just spent 9 days in Ontario... well, there isn't much around that's unique. Aside from In-N-Out Burger... oh, there's a Boston Market in Rancho Cucamonga off Hwy 66. I think you'll like Rancho Cucamonga over Ontario for places to eat. john doe
We have In-N-Out here in Utah, so it's no big thing to me. I do plan on hitting Jack in the Box at least once though. I don't mind driving around a little, so I'm sure I'll be going to Rancho Cucamonga sometime during the week.

I miss Jack in the Box.I do too, I figure I had forever cut myself off from the world of Jack in the Box but they're trying to put one here in Indy not to far from my house. I'm rather stoked. annewandering
I missed Carls jr burgers with the green chili on them but never jack in the box. Idaho has jack in the boxes all over the place.

We have Carls Jrs all over the place here. I like their food but I think they are overpriced. About the only thing I buy from there anymore is their fried zucchini. annewandering
when we did have carl jrs they had stopped making the hamburgers with the chili pepper anyway. sighs.

annewandering
Yes thats the one. Are they still making them? Last I knew they only made the Santa Fe Chicken sandwich.

LittleWyvern
I served in Ontario for a few months during my mission. The only thing that I can think of in my old area that hasn't already been mentioned is the Graber Olive House, where some local olives are grown if you're into that kind of thing. They sell their own olive oil which I've heard is pretty good. A drive up and down Euclid Ave. is always worth it, and will take you to Upland where there's more things to do. The neighboring city of Rancho Cucamonga is also a more exciting city.
