TheKitsuneFox Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Last Sunday I was visiting my grandmother and decided to got to her church. There were several none theological differences I noticed. 1. They do a lot of standing. 2. Their dress code seems a little more casual. 3. For the most part, only one speaker. 4. People tended to say "amen" a lot. 5. Lots of praying. Overall, a rather interesting and enjoyable experience. Quote

One thing about the praying is they would kinda slip in and out of it, not quite the clear demarcation we were used to. It left me wondering if I was listening to a prayer or a sermon at various points, wasn't sure if I should have my eyes closed or not. Edited April 22, 2012 by Dravin Quote
annewandering Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 I went to a 1st Christian? church when I was a kid with my grandparents. The prayer/sermon confused me too. Not to mention all the swearing. My gosh ever other word was a swear word! I asked my grandma why the preacher swore so much and she told me he wasnt swearing. Well it sounded like it to me!! Quote

Dravin Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 We sing better too. (uh...err...than the Baptists...:::cough:::))Well, I think you sing with more animation. The congregation I had that short visit to had a projector to show the lyrics sing-along style, which was kinda nice compared to a hymnal. Though one song I was kinda getting into and then about half-way through from being general praise shifted to praising the trinity specifically which was a little awkward. Quote
