Backroads Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 Les Mis trailor, if you haven't seen it yet. Quote
Guest Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 Whoa! Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe... hmm... for some reason, I can't imagine the confrontation between the two. One has an operatic tone, the other rock-star-ish. Anne Hathaway is an awesome singer and so is Amanda Segfried. Who is Marius and Eponine? I have to say, I didn't like Phantom on the big screen even with the awesome Gerard Butler... and I really enjoyed the non-musical Les Mis with Liam Neeson. I'm kinda in the middle of dread and excitement on this one. Quote
Backroads Posted May 30, 2012 Author Report Posted May 30, 2012 I didn't care for Phantom either... because of Gerard Butler. My husband loved the Liam Neeson movie and was horrified by my brothers' high school performance of the musical because Jean val Jean... died. Samantha Barks is Eponine, which I'm in favor of because she did an awesome job in the concert piece. Eddie Redmayne is apparently Marius. I have no opinion becuase I have no idea who he is. Quote
Guest Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 HELENA BONHAM CARTER AND SASHA BARON COHEN AS THE THENARDIERS!!!! THAT HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST PERFECT COMBINATION FOR THOSE ROLES!!! And, hmm... Colm is stuck as the Bishop. Almost an extra. LOL. And yeah, I loved Samantha on the concert! And I don't recognize Marius, Enjolras, nor Gavroche... Quote
Windseeker Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 I'm soo looking forward to this. I try to avoid teasers and trailors whenever possible but can someone tell me what the rating is going to be? My son said when he saw the trailor it had an R rating on it. Is this true? Quote

Is this true? The movie has not yet been rated, so your son is mistaken. The trailer itself is approved for all audiences. It is set for a December release - if it's during Christmas break, they're probably going to push for a PG-13.But, to tell you the truth, regardless of the rating, you have to see it first before you bring teen-agers to this movie. The Les Mis thematic elements are pretty harsh regardless of how it is going to be presented. People on stage is not as big of an impact as a movie screen. Edited May 30, 2012 by anatess Quote

I hope they at least keep it PG-13.I'm so glad they are doing this. Not a big fan of Anne Hatheway, Fantine is blonde and I just think they could have found someone much better. I"ve seen pictures of Hugh Jackman as Jean Val Jean and he the fits the description from the book perfectly. I'm stoked for Russell Crowe as well. Edited May 30, 2012 by Windseeker Quote
Backroads Posted May 30, 2012 Author Report Posted May 30, 2012 I think it would behoove them to keep it PG-13... A lot of families as a whole love this. In my opinion, it would be easier to make it PG-13 than to truss it up enough for an R-rating. PG-13 will mean more viewers. Quote

Just_A_Guy Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 BLASPHEMY! No, "blasphemy" was having to suffer through Butler's strained grunting in lieu of Michael Crawford's matchless tenor. Quote

Misshalfway Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 I can't wait either! So excited to see it. I won't let myself watch anymore trailers though. I want to see it for the first time in the theater!! I wasn't sure about Russel Crowe. Don't get me wrong. I love the guy but....Can he even sing?? And I'm kinda on the fence about Anne Hathaway, but what I saw in the trailer won me over. Quote
