Peck11 Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Are there any mormons in the Maine area? I never seen many up here Quote
Wingnut Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 There are two stakes in Maine, I believe. Depends on how "up here" you are. Quote
ChooseTheSun Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Wicked! I'm Maine born and raised. Beautiful place to be from. Welcome :) Quote
FairChild Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 I live in Kennebunk. What do you want to know? And we do have some of the most awesome wards I have ever been blessed to be in. Quote
Peck11 Posted June 10, 2012 Author Report Posted June 10, 2012 wow, I didnt expect any answers; What do you all think of Maine and the culture of the area, I guess Im interested because I met a pair of missionaries in Augusta and up to that point had never really heard or seen of mormons Quote
Jamie123 Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 (edited) My wife is from Maine - it's a very lovely state. I've seen it in summer, spring, midwinter, but never in fall....which I'm told is the loveliest season of all with the leaf-colours. We are not Mormons ourselves, though my wife's sister is a convert. I'm not sure which stake/ward she belongs to. On one occasion when visiting we met a couple of Elders out proselytizing, so the missionaries are certainly working up there! Edited June 10, 2012 by Jamie123 Quote
FairChild Posted June 11, 2012 Report Posted June 11, 2012 I am in the EXETER, NH stake. I live in a small town near the southern tip of Maine. It's a wonderful community in which raise children and do so many other things. I love the people I am with, both in or outside of the church. Anything specific you would like to know about? Quote
Jennarator Posted June 11, 2012 Report Posted June 11, 2012 My Uncle, Aunt and cousins live there....that's a family of five right there. :) I have no idea where..... Quote
FairChild Posted June 12, 2012 Report Posted June 12, 2012 I always think the very best Wards and Branches have lots of babies in them. Our Ward certainly does. Quote

Arnolt Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the replies; I just wonder what Lds people up here think in general about the social and political climate up here in maineHello, I am from Hamburg / Germany and sorry I can not call myself a Mormon. You seem to be worried about the social and political climate there in Maine? It has made me a bit reflecting about Maine... is there anything going wrong...? Don't say the Algonquins are rising again...? Edited June 13, 2012 by Arnolt Quote

It's not easy for us to get there in fall though - I'm usually busy non-stop between the end of summer and the beginning of the Christmas vacation. My only hope would be to wangle an exchange visit with some college there. Quote
