Tsuzuki Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 You might want to be more specific. There's a whole lot of "other". Me: Libertarian. I like throwing my vote away, and making the side you don't like win. Quote

prisonchaplain Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 It sure is nice that each personal vote is a private matter.Ben RainesI'm pretty sure I voted the same way Ben did. How's that for being open and public? Quote
BenRaines Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Guess my colors are showing without saying how I voted. :) Ben Raines Quote
Guest MrsS Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 It sure is nice that each personal vote is a private matter. Ben Raines Ben, where on Brother Dorsey's polls does he ask us to put our names? These polls are just as anonymous as the voting booths! He also hasn't asked us to post our answers, just fill out the poll. For goodness sake, don't get your bloomers in a knot! I am just as Red/White/Blue as you are and these three simple polls didn't bother me a bit. My husband and I went and voted in the morning before work - the polling place is just down the street from us, but it is not a safe place for anglo's to be after dark! Yes we live in a very dangerous area - we are pretty much surrounded by drug dealers and cookers of meth. God willing - the "Developers" will be buying up property this side of the interstate within the next 3 years, and we will get a healthy price for our 1 1/2 acres of commercially zoned land! In the meantime, we keep our noses out of the neighbors business and smile, nod our heads and greet them warmly when we do see them. Brother Dorsey - Ever since I got my first voters registration card, I have never voted a Straight Ticket. My parents taught me to Vote the Man, Vote the issue. YOU DO NOT BLINDLY VOTE THE PARTY!!! Quote
sgallan Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 For the first time in my life I did vote a straight ticket (save one very local race). I was not happy with the war. I am not happy with a trickle down economics that doesn't trickle down very well to the middle class. I was not happy with the examples of one party in power becoming corrupt. I was not happy with the exploding deficit. And lastly (and more personnal) I am making middle class money and yet find myself without health insurance. So out with the Republicans. Now the next election I still hope for a Democratic Congress, but I want a Republican President (McCain perhaps). I just love split Government. It means that the stuff from the far left and the far right doesn't have a chance. And the legislation that really needs to get done, gets done with input from both sides because anything else doesn't have a chance of passing. Quote
pushka Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 I watched the news on UK tv tonight, showing the new structure of the USA government (senate/representatives?) and will be following the course of things quite closely from now on...very interesting to see all the Democrats in there now! Quote
BenRaines Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Guess some people haven't read my posts very often. First I don't wear bloomers and second I could care less if others in a chatroom knew how I voted. I am not shy at making my opinions known. :) As far as now that the Republicans are out of office the Democrats will straighten out the country. The Democrats has the whole Congress and the President and health insurance didn't show up for the masses. They held the house for 40 years prior to 1994 and still didn't solve all the country's problems. Guess they are a smarter group of Democrats than they were for 40 years controlling the House and for a good part of that time the Senate too. I enjoy talking politics and would like to see a positive campaign about what the elected politician will do and not what their opponent hasn't done. Well in a dream world perhaps. Ben Raines Quote
Palerider Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Do we really want the Govt in Health care.....thats a scary thought......wow!!!! Quote
sgallan Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Do we really want the Govt in Health care.....thats a scary thought......wow!!!!When you have none, and are 46, an age where people die because they cannot get preventative maintenance medical care, and are also a single dad, you bet I want somebody interested in my health care. If it is "Govt"..... then so be it. At least somebody gives a crap even if they don't do it well. But what do you care..... I am just a casualty to a political idea, and my kid who could end up with a drug addicted mom as the primary parent, is just collateral damage. Right? Bring on a solution. And try to do it quickly in case something happens to me. Okay? Quote

BenRaines Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Well as a middle class American who lost his job at 50 and had to find another one after ten years. I had no health insurance until I went out and bought some. It is for my wife and I at our age and is $500 a month but what we need so I guess we won't get a new car for now but that is the choice. Would be nice if the govt. would give me a low or no interest loan to buy a house and also force all those greedy homeowners to drop their prices so I could afford one but I don't see that happening either. Guess I will just have to do it myself and not depend on or look to the government to do it for me. Ben Raines Quote
sgallan Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 I have seen the type of care you want and its horrible.Trust me.... it is better than no care at all..... and then dying because I couldn't afford to even get diagnosed with a heart problem, or cancer, or any of a number of things, until I was basically terminal. I get the occasional chest pains now. I researched it. It seems "okay". But I can't be sure unless I get it checked out for sure.... and I can't afford it. But hey, if it turns out bad I'll be sure to let my child know about this site and she can give you the "update".Guess I will just have to do it myself and not depend on or look to the government to do it for me.You'll no doubt be pleased if I were to die and my child would end up with a drug addict for a mom then. sgallan Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 sounds like you are hoping it will be better....you don't really know......and witht the govt involved it will be a mess.........But I would get to see a doctor (they know more than me about medicine - really). Now - if it is bad - I am just dead. My daughter gets a drug addict mom. You win a political argument. Congratualtions, you rock. Want some pictures of us to make it more real? Or would you really care if real people are involved because it is against your political dogma? Scott - Astonished on how brutally cold harded many religious people can be when it comes to politics. sgallan Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 so I do not care about people cause I am not for FREE Healthcare.........LOLWell you obviously do not care about many people - like my daughter and I - that is enough for me. I will remember to never shed a tear about your trials and losses either. Because you obviously are pretty choosy about who you care about. Quote

sgallan Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 You took the bait. Thanks for the illustration of why your party lost the recent election. Republicans, especially the conservative religious ones, are mean and don't really care about any save their own. PS - This is just what I was looking for. I plan on using this little back and forth as a lesson for my kid (homeschooled) tommorrow. It should help make my case against "religion". Thanks for your help..... Quote
BenRaines Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Well lets see. As it is right now more than 40% of my check goes for Federal Income Tax, no State Tax, Social Security and other Federal taxes. I wonder how much more would be needed to make sure everyone had health care and a living wage or for those who choose not to work a govt. check. Not sure if I can make enough money to afford it. BenRaines Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Pale are you a mean, insensitive, conservative republican? Your 20 plus hours of service to the community a week don't count for anything. Not for your children but for many families children. Your regular taxes, you charitable offerings, etc. still make you a greedy, wealthy, hater of the underemployed. Ben Raines Quote
