nathan93 Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 I will be set apart as a missionary next week, and I was wondering since my parents will not being going with me to Utah, I am going to Utah 6 days before my entrance to the MTC and I will be staying with my grandparents and some very close friends while i'm there and I was wondering what would be off limits as far as being set apart and all. You're supposed to be around a 'companion' at all times but my father isn't able to come to Utah with me. Quote
Anddenex Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 Remember you are set apart as a missionary so the missionary standards and rules apply to you. If your father isn't there, then you have your grandpa (I am assuming you have grandpa still since you said grandparents). Do not be around any young woman alone. My advice, if you keep the missionary rules you will be fine. Congrats and may you serve honorably and faithfully. Remember, it is not you that converts anyone to the gospel of Jesus Christ, it is the Lord's spirit, learn to listen to it. Quote
nathan93 Posted August 1, 2012 Author Report Posted August 1, 2012 I'm going to be with my friend for the first 3 days in Utah (Returned Missionary, recently temple married) visiting with his entire family down in St. George. My Grandparents won't be there. What do I do then? Quote
Misshalfway Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 How can you be with a companion when you haven't been assigned one? When they set you apart, I'm sure they have to know you'll have a week of dead time. Perhaps you should ask your priesthood leader for specific interim instructions. If you don't get it, do the best you can. Don't go on dates. Don't be alone with a female. Beyond that, relax, keep up that scripture study, and enjoy the ride. Quote
nathan93 Posted August 1, 2012 Author Report Posted August 1, 2012 Thanks, good advice Misshalfway. Quote
