Guest
That actually might work. My husband graduated in geology (not quite, still working on a math class he's failed twice) and he suggested all this gem/rock names for girls, and I fell in love with Jade. THat wouldn't be too hard to transfer to a boy.Tell your mom very decisively that you're naming your son Obsidian or Quartz or Lava. Then she'll be very happy to have a grandson named LeGrand or Jade.

Guest
My brother is a geophysicist but I am not. Those are the best I could pull out of my pocket. :)

NightSG
How about Jimbob? Not James Robert, Jimbob. I actually went to school with a guy who was stuck with that. IMO, you should be allowed to name your kid anything you want, but in some cases, you should be required to front the money for a name change before the birth certificate is filled out.
