Mahone Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 I saw this in passing, I thought it was pretty funny for halloween: BBC News - Milton Keynes cows could be moved after skeleton vandalism. Quote
NightSG Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 $2,000 to repaint them? I should be a painting contractor for that city. Quote
Guest Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Really. That's a pretty big markup for a couple $3 cans of Rustoleum. Quote

NightSG Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Looks like the vandalism is quite a bit more detailed and artistic than the original paint scheme anyway. Maybe they should just back off and encourage the cows to be painted at will. Consider it an ongoing community art project. Quote

They should wait until mid-November and if no one comes forward and paints them in a Christmas theme they could put an ad in the paper asking for the 'vandals' to come back and do it again. Or, just ask the public for volunteers to paint if the trust buys the paint and supervises. They may be surprised by the artistic talent they see if they just give kids an outlet to express themselves. Quote

Blackmarch Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 I saw this in passing, I thought it was pretty funny for halloween: BBC News - Milton Keynes cows could be moved after skeleton vandalism. That's sad. really hate vandalism, even if its decent art.really shows that people don't care, and it removes culture.Hope the vandals get found and get sued the full charge of whatever it takes to get them repainted and possibly the move charge as well. Smudge Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 I too have mixed feelings about this - it did make me smile when I seen it as it is very well done - but at the end of the day it is vandalism! Quote
annewandering Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 I would be inclined ot ask the artist what his feelings were on it. It is pretty flattering that people are inspired to be creative with the cows. They have turned from a static art form to ever changing. Who knows. Maybe the artist does this. It certainly gets his works in the news. Quote
annewandering Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 ‘I repaired cows for my dad,’ says artist behind concrete skeletons - Local - Milton Keynes Citizen This is the background for the story. The cows were painted by the son of the man who made these copies of the originals. He did it to honor his father who died a few years ago.. Quote
