Hyena Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 Just a quick question.. If you are sealed together in your marriage to your wife and she dies, then you remarry, How is that resolved in the next world? Are you reunited only with your original wife to be together for all eternity? But what about your new wife will she end up alone in the afterlife? Sealed to no husband, isn't that a tragedy? Or perhaps I'm missing something? Can someone explain things? Thank you. Quote

Guest Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 The answer is...we don't know all the details. In this case, we know a little bit.If the 2nd marriage was not sealed in the temple, then it's like the story in Luke 20:28. The woman will not be married to her husband in the afterlife since they only married for time and not eternity. But, if they get their temple work done by proxy and she gets sealed to her husband then their marriage will last through eternity as well just like his marriage to his first wife. Quote
Vort Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 No one who has honestly sought to marry will end up alone in the afterlife. But all things are not made known to us right now. Early Latter-day Saints practiced polygamy, where a man might have several wives. We believe that, at specific times (such as during Old Testament times), such an arrangement has been allowed by God, so perhaps in some cases men might have multiple wives in the eternities. But truth be told, it's all speculative. We don't know exactly how societies are formed in the eternities, only THAT they are formed. Quote
Hyena Posted January 14, 2013 Author Report Posted January 14, 2013 Thank you. I was just curious that if I marry someone and she passes away and I remarry (highly unlikely) then what happens to my original wife. But like you have said its probably speculative and not something to be concerned with. Thanks! Quote
