scdoyle Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 When watching, say a Gen. Conf. from 2011, should you close your eyes and fold your arms during the prayer? After all, it was given 2 years ago. Quote
selek Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 I would suggest that it really doesn't matter- though that is hands-down the most unique question I've seen in nearly a decade of amatuer apologetics. Bravo Zulu! The only reason to do so would be to acknowledge that this is indeed a prayer- a sacred communication between the servants of Christ and their Lord. So long as you are aware of and respectful of the significance of the moment, then that is sufficient in my book. A somewhat extreme example of the phenomenon would be to ask if you also bow your head when Charlton Heston prays in the Ten Commandments? Or is it enough to know what that moment represents- both within the context of the movie and within the context of filmmaking? Quote
The Folk Prophet Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 I usually fast forward... which leads to a follow-up question, should I fold my arms and close my eyes anyway? Quote

annewandering Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 If I am watching it I close my eyes and go along with the prayer although if people are talking to me I quietly answer them. Do you do differently when its live instead of a decade old? Quote
marshac Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Do you do differently when its live instead of a decade old?I know we do- perhaps it's knowing that others all around the world are doing the same that makes it different live? I dunno. Quote
