Wow, based on this thread I checked out 'christianforums.com' and wow - what a bunch of flamers

I read a bunch of stuff on the 'unorthodox' page and is it mormonville or what? I felt scared to jump in - they are pretty vicious over there! Not like the friendly folks here :D

LOL...they really do make one appreciate this place...and our Christian attitudes towards each other... ;)

Yup, yup, yup. That place was just too much, I eventually got out and stayed out because they are as close to Ed Decker and the Tanners as physically possible. I heard the Luciferian concept kicked around. That and they have no regard for Temple issues. Many of the ExMo's talk about Temple ordinances, the name they were givin in the Temple, and mock and ridicule the wearing of garments. Made me sick. Oh well, they can deal with the Big Man when it's there turn.

I KNOW!!! Reading some replies I swear I felt my personal spirit was offended. It made me feel cold and I literally cringed. It's so sad and sick all at the same time. I take my convenants very seriously, and I fear for those who don't. That is the single deciding factor on me staying away. I knew it was a bad bad bad bad place. I haven't been back since. Makes no difference...I was banned afterwards anyway.

www.christianforums.com does have various posters in the Unorthodox Theological Doctrine section who do not have the Spirit of God with them. There is no question about that. Nevertheless, I've noted that the site has numerous lurkers, many of whom may be investigating the Church or thinking about leaving it. Thus, my purpose there (before my suspension--and when my suspension is complete) is merely to correct the incorrect doctrines and accusations stated and to provide some understanding and insight for those lurkers who read my words. If even one investigator, or on-the-edge member, benefits from my clarifications, my mission there is a success. Thus, I don't expect to "convince" the hard hearts that post; I do expect to let the truth about our beliefs be known for those souls who are searching, and reading. ;)

P.S. I am currently doing this very thing in the religion and doctrine section of the message boards at www.christianity.com . . . which actually has a higher membership than www.christianforums.com.

No offense...but I'm a little weary of the boards you recommend.

Hey Ammon. This is elderbell and mormonsoldia, how are things on CF, I stopped going there and Serapha coming in here reminded me why. CF doesn't want to clear up issues about Mormonism. Wouldn't you agree. They have this front with them that says come in, share with, teach us about your religion, we are so eager to hear what you have to say. Course, then you fall for it, and once you are in, it's like fighting off a pack of ravenous wolves with a piece of raw meat strapped to your face. I am gonna check christianity.com out sometime, what's the atmosphere over there?

Good to hear from you elderbell. I wondered where you went. www.christianforums.com has no intention of having an objective discussion, but that is why I stay... so many fence-sitters and investigators read those posts. We need to set the record straight. www.christianity.com is even more restrictive than www.christianforums.com about what we can say regarding the Church. It's been a real challenge to stay unbanned over there (been banned and reinstated once already), but the message must go forth.

P.S. I would sure appreciate some help from other LDS members (hint, hint). I know it isn't fun, but I believe it is necessary. And help does not mean trolling. I try to be sincere and level-headed.

Winnie -- I'm tempted to visit that board and create a little mental havoc in what sound like a bunch of closed little minds.

The atonement begins from his birth to the final hours in the garden and ends at the cross, (mortal life) to his glories resurrection three days later.

Very well put.

The atonement began long before his birth...it started in the pre-existence.

Wow, I went onto christianity.com. I'm sorry, but that is an EVIL, spiteful place. Once I got done reading the perspective they have on Mormonism, and what their "version" of Christianity is, it felt like someone took a dump truck and plopped a load of mud on me. Once question I have for all mainstreamers though: What was the purpose of the Nicene Creed and the "redefinition" of the Gospel through phylisophical council(made up of mainly Greek Phils.), in which was heavily directed and influenced by a blood-thirsty, post-pagen, and Imperialistic Constantine? So that is who God called to "build up" Christianity huh. It clearly states also that along with Baptism, comfirmation by the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost was needed. Again a million holes in Constantine Christianity, but oh well.

This is exactly why the RLDS believes that the apostacy began about 570 AD. The church changed when Constantine assumed control of it, and it went downhill from there.

Are you sure that is the RLDS line Jenda?

570 is a long ways removed from the early Christian Church of the 1st century and the early 2nd century and is also a couple hundred years after Constantine.

570 AD, eh. Constantine's dates are (306 - 337 AD) so are you talking about a fall that took 250 years?

Yes, this is the RLDS line.

Well, let me restate that. That was the RLDS line until the RLDS decided that we are no longer a "restored" church, and that God did not restore anything because He didn't have to.

But, as I am a RLDS restorationist, we continue to hold to that belief.

I realize that that is a couple of hundred years after Constantine, but the time of Constantine is when we feel that the true decline of the church started. We believe that the apostacy was complete when God removed his blessing from the church, and that happened about 570 AD.

That fits into the timeline, also, of the 1260 years the church was in the wilderness (Revelations 12: 5 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore years.)

Great, come on over and we'll compare LDS views and documents with Scripture and you can tell us we are mean to do so. ***sigh***
