I'm giving a talk in Sacrament Meeting this Sunday and I want to record it ("secretly" with my phone) and post it on my blog. Are there any rules against doing such a thing?

Record it at home then post to the blog. I have to have my talks written out entirely so I can read from them. I get distracted and go off-rail WAY too easily to do otherwise.

I have recorded entire Sacrament meetings, Gospel Doctrine & RS classes. Because I cannot hear them. We have a mini recorder. That smaller than a cell phone piece of equipment picks up a baby's burp at the back of the room as I sit at the front.

Way back when in 2001-2004 the branch used to record these meetings for three of our home bound sisters.

So I say ~ go for it. If you fiddle with your hands a lot, then keep the phone in your shirt pocket.

Having been in a ward where sacrament was recorded for those unable to attend, knowing that a precedent has been set, I don't see any wrong with verbally recording your talk. Still, why leave it open to debate? Ask your Bishop. If he says no then uphold his calling and record it at home. If he says yes, then won't you be glad to have any doubt regarding the matter resolved?

I didn't think there was a prohibition to recording talks but I'm concerned the appropriateness of posting them online. But, ask the Bishop it is. Thanks.

With as many families that record missionary farewell talks... I see no problem with audio recordings. Just because it happens to be in an mp3 format that is easily transferable... :)

Just out of curiosity. Why do you want to record it and throw it on a blog?

If the talk has anything to do with his past history, then I could understand why he would want to put it on his blog.

So I gave my talk and recorded it... BUT... I may not have pressed the right buttons because there was no recording to be had. Either I was way to nervous to operate the app, or Deity intervened and kept me from me doing something bad.

So I posted the text of my talk. Next time, I won't tempt fate.
