Bini Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 This is across from Utah's Hogle Zoo, correct? I'm just wondering how crowded that place gets on Christmas Eve. Has anyone gone with their family on that day in the later evening? I read their website's description and it sounds absolutely lovely but we're worried that if there's too many people, you won't really get to enjoy the activities that are in the designated areas. It sounded like they might have DIY Christmas gift workshops for kids, etc. but if it's only in a small room and there's literally HUNDREDS of kids - you'll never get to participate. So is it worth going to? Quote
applepansy Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Yes its adjacent to the This is the Place monument. Quote
Backroads Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 I've never been, but I've always wanted to go. Is it open only on Christmas Eve? Quote
applepansy Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 I think I'm going to have to call them. :) Quote
Daybreak79 Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) We have been a couple of times and a had a great time. Our daughter has always been able to do all the crafts. It gets crowded sometimes, but its not like the crowds going to see the Lights at Temple Square. Edited December 6, 2013 by Daybreak79 Quote

I'm guessing that is probably prime time for a lot of families. If you aren't able to do the crafts (too many people for example) is the live nativity scene and Christmas carollers still worth the trip? Quote
bytebear Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 I just saw that Liberty Park is also doing a live nativity. It's free too. We're doing Utah on a budget. Is Heritage Park worth the cost? Quote
Bini Posted December 7, 2013 Author Report Posted December 7, 2013 I just saw that Liberty Park is also doing a live nativity. It's free too. We're doing Utah on a budget. Is Heritage Park worth the cost?We did free last year at Temple Square and it was beyond crowded with everyone there. Families were walking about a mile out with little babies and young children there and back because there was no nearby parking. So many people slipped, especially, if you were parked anywhere on a slope. Then once inside, it was just packed, and felt hustle and bustle. I think we prefer to do something simpler and less chaotic this year. But yes, still debating whether the cost is worth it at Heritage Park IF you're unable to do any of the activities.. Are the grounds themselves worth a visit and entertaining enough for a family with young and old? Otherwise, we might head for the Zoo Lights, which also got fantastic ratings - higher than Heritage Park. Quote
carlimac Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 That's where I had my wedding reception. It has great sentimental value for me. My in-laws live very close to there. Strangely though, we've only been there at Christmas once. (We always drove all the way up to the Homestead in Midway for the sleigh ride.) The day we went to Heritage Park it wasn't very crowded. Fun atmosphere! Quote
