How should we determine when there is too much or when there is not enough? It can be anything - Money - toys - food - responsibility - time or whatever. Do you think you have too much or not enough? Do you want more? or have you had enough and are ready to get off the "Merry Go Round"?

Everything is a tool. Everything. Toys, money, food... They are merely tools one uses to follow Christ. When the tool is used for Christlike things then there can never be enough. If it is used anti-Christlike, then it needs to go.

I don't think I'll ever get enough money. I can win the Power Ball 500 million jackpot and I still wouldn't have enough. One hometown in the Philippines alone can suck up 500 million dollars just to build proper toilets and running water. And that doesn't even include medicine.

For right now, I'm working so I can have money. My husband has a really good job but it is not enough to pay for somebody to clean my house. So, I work, so I can hire somebody to clean my house. Because, I can do a lot more good with computers doing something I'm really really good at and have somebody else clean the house which I really really suck at. I can serve a lot more people with one hour on the computer than one hour with the mop and I would still have the energy to care for my children when they come home from school and do my church callings. So yeah, if I get more money, I'll get the housekeeper full time and then I'll have time to do more Mary stuff instead of Martha stuff.

Not really sure how my newest doll, Vinayaka, can be used for Christlike things...

Easy... put her on a shelf so you'll continue to do good things past Christmas. :D

Vinayaka is a boy, lol and only Lakumi does the Fae on the Shelf, since the story I wrote is starring her lol

And I wouldn't say the fae on the shelf show off positivity and Christ like feelings.

Thanks for all the responses but I am thinking too much and not enough is more a state of mind and confusion between needs and wants. In general I am inclined to think we all have too much - much more than we need. That we should be thankful more that regretful or sorry that we have less - unless it really is less than we need.

I think this is also the thinking that "what I need/want" is to serve one's self. I tend to think in terms of "what I need/want" in terms of what I want to do for somebody else (like my husband, kids, and by extension - my family, friends, community, homeland... etc.). I can't think of a scenario before the 2nd Coming that I'll ever have more than I need/want. But just because I still want/need something doesn't mean that I am not grateful for whatever it is I already have/can do.
