FutureAndAHope Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 Hi,I am a Christian, not a Mormon. But I am just filling in time while I wait for my wife to come home from work. I am interested to share information with you. It has been ages since i have had a decent conversation with a person of your faith. I am interested to know, what you know about Mormonism. How you became a Mormon etc.As for me I became a Christian through a dream about hell, it scared me out to church. I then spent many years, not understanding my faith. As the years progressed I gradually started to get to know God. In a kind of personal way. Since then I have seen a few minor healings through prayer, and God has often spoken to me directly, telling me things that would happen in my life, which all came to pass. I have seen many small miracles in my life, which I can share with you. I now run a small online church on facebook called everybodymattersministry well enough about me, how do you fit into this worlds puzzle. Quote
Quin Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 There's a pretty good mix of Born-LDS & Converts on here (as well as susper-stellar-Others from various faiths or none). Myself, I'm a convert of a few years. Welcome. Q Quote

I now run a small online church on facebook called everybodymattersministry well enough about me, how do you fit into this worlds puzzle.I am an engineer and scientist. My father was the greatest man I have ever known and an artist that, like myself was born in to the LDS or Mormon church. Intellectually my father and I did not see eye to eye and I have been kind of a disappointment to him for much of my life - though at his death he did not express this notion. My angle mother still thinks of me as her most difficult child to raise. As a scientist it is my nature to question and explorer everything. If it were not for Mormonism I would likely be an agnostic or Buddhist. Historically traditional Christian has failed humanity - both in pursuit of truth and in love and compassion. I am LDS not because of one event but because of a lifetime quest for truth. I have often thought that if I could find anything better (meaning more truthful or respectful of truth) I would embrace it in a heartbeat.I love truth - even more than I fear death and hell. Therefore I am a Mormon. The Traveler Quote

What is different in being a Mormon, to say me as a Christian. What distinguishes your religion? Quote
Quin Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) I have not really studied Mormonism much. Many years ago I read a book that talked about Joseph Smith, was that his name, and how he introduced a new religion. What is different in being a Mormon, to say me as a Christian. What distinguishes your religion?1) Mormons are Christians. Just as - Catholics (Roman, Eastern Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Montenegrin Orthodox, Russian Orthodox) - PreLutheran- Lutheran- Anglican- Calvinist- Presbyterian - Anabaptist (Amish, Mennonites)- Apostolic- Baptist- Charismatics- Christian Science- Evangelical- Hutterites- Latter-Day Saints (Mormons)- Methodist- Pentacostal- Quakers / Religious Society of Friends... Just to name a handful of the hundreds of Christian denominations... Are all Christian. Including us. Mormon is our church's / members' nicknameOur Church's full name is a bit of a mouthful, which is why most shorten it to LDS or MormonBut we're still Christian. SoaringEagle Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 I have not really studied Mormonism much. Many years ago I read a book that talked about Joseph Smith, was that his name, and how he introduced a new religion. What is different in being a Mormon, to say me as a Christian. What distinguishes your religion? The biggest factor that distinguishes our religion is the belief in modern day prophets and continuing revelations from our Heavenly Father. I am a convert of 18 months and came from a background of many different protestant churches. I belief in God the Father, His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Three separate beings with one central purpose. I would invite you to engage and ask questions as you see fit and when prompted, talk with missionaries who can also help assist in your quest for knowledge and truth. Quote
