Who Or What Is The Destroying Angel

In the scriptures it talks about the Destroying Angel taking the first born of the egyptains and in the WoW it says the Destroying Angel will pass over you, but who or what is the Destroying Angel, does anyone have an idea or something that one of the general authorities has stated on the matter

Who is the destroying angel? Rosie O'Donnell. Well never mind, she ain't no angel so that theory's a bust.

Seriously though, I think it's representative of the Lord's active role in punishing the wicked, whether by an actual angel or some other power. See here, and here for Biblical examples of this in action.

I understood that some teach the Destroying Angel or Angel of the Lord is actually a Christophany. I personally don't believe this, but some I suppose do.

I think that the "Captain of the LORD's host" and the "angel of the LORD" as mentioned in the accounts of Joshua and Jacob refer to Jehovah/Christ himself, but it's not something cut and clear.

Rosie sets her self up for this? Or could it be she was ritually raped and tortured by a sadistic cult? What man can judge as sin' when one as an innocent child has been stripped of all her boundries and worth? I know a story of a girl who went through this same thing at the hands of some sick religious organization and the CIA. She survived and grew up but as you can imagine she was not quite like someone who had been raised with morals. Oh sure she had had the grown up with like the rest of LDS children being taught how one is not worthy of live nor love if one is unpure. She understood full well that she was damed to hell when she was baptized at 8. But one must have hope. She eventually got married in the temple but instead of blessings she got more abuse. Her husband was a porn addict and punished her daily for her purity by cheating on her in her own home. Then calling her crazy for not trusting him. She eventually left to save her live and to find love of her own. She was pretty beat down and far from perfect and she really had no understandiong of men desiring anything virtuos or pure. So she undoubtedbly fell into sin when they showed desire for her. I'm sure some here would believe she deserved to die for this. God forbid a woman have a sex drive. They put out a death warrant on her still the same.

 

The above poster was right. It is a calling. The destroying angel is Satan and those who are called to serve him work for the anti christ. We have one example to follow. Jesus Christ who lived to teach us the way and who died on the cross for all of our sins. For only God can judge ones heart. Don't be decieved if you are called to serve please ask yourself is this calling christlike? Is this the arm of the flesh and commandments of men or of God? For they will say lord lord have we not done great works and miricles in your name. And he will say depart from me I know ye not ye workers of iniquity.

 

The good news is that girl she lived because she belonged to Christ. But I know many others who have not. So who has the greater sin? The one who wanted to be loved and who had never been shown any? Or the man who claimed to love in order to justify murder?

And let us think of these precepts of men. The same men who started this destroying angel. SHould have left it to god and the angels. Not call men to serve his own folly. A man Joseph Smith and Brigham young are ones to judge for they would never commit adultry? Why would they they could just secretly marry all the mens wives they wanted in the temple if they were coveting them. They called men to destroy the women who didn't go along with it and to keep their perversions hidden. As God a smy whitness I can swear to you these men will not be sitting on the Judgment throne with Christ. Jesus loved and forgave he inspired people to have faith in thier worth and the God who created them. He also said to look to lust is committing adultry in ones heart. If men could view all women the way that Christ did there would be much less sin and no need for murder.  Not saying there would be no sin. It's part of human nature to fall in love and want to be intimate. It's the way God created us. God is love and to lie in  his name for ones own selfish agenda is a sin. As well as the one who falls for it. The consequences of those sins will come with the broken heart. That will only make one more in need of love. Can you imagine being deemed unworthy to live for your desire to be loved? Or even your purley sexual desire? Ye will  be judged with the measure ye meet

Historically and traditionally there are a number of archangels that at different times been considered the angel of death.  Among them are:

Michael – interestingly in some Christian corners it is believed Michael cared for Adam at his death.

Abaddon or Apollyon – as referenced in the Book of Revelation.

Gabriel:  Believed in some Christian corners to oversee the death of kings.

Azrael: the name in Islam traditions.

 

In some traditions the angel of death stands at the gates of heaven (as some believe Peter does on some Christian traditions) and allows entrance into heaven or sends lost souls off to hell or underworld of Hades.   In the earliest of so called Pagan traditions – Mot is the name of the keeper to heaven’s entrance that the scale of justice was called the scale of Mot.  In the epoch of Baal (remember Baal in ancient Old Testament as well as New Testament as the rival of G-d?); Baal is a demigod (half human half g-d son of El) that defeats Mot and Yaman and liberates those that believe in him from the dark underworld so that their sins can be forgiven and paid for by Baal.
