Vort Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 Just curious. Dumb how? It was mediocre science fiction, mediocre drama, and laughably bad horror (though I speak as one who does not care for the horror genre). I really wanted to like it, but it was not likeable, just dumb. Quote
Guest Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 I hadn't noticed this thread before. Now that Lonetree has bumped it, I'll give it a crack.... Is Social Security part of a cleaver conspiracy to bankrupt the USA? #1. Funding of secret operations of the CIA – including “Black Ops”...he was cleaver to hide this in Social Security. #2. The known overhead cost of Social Security is about 60%....This alone by our own legal standards would classify Social Security as a conspiracy. #3. Under president Ragan an independent study was performed by a world renowned economist – Milton Friedman...negative income tax as the only plausible (to me) way to end poverty. That I see in principle (negative income tax) the essence of several principles of the Law of Consecration”... #1: I really don't know if it does or does not include money for black ops. But it doesn't really make any difference. It's all fungible. And if the expenses are classified, it is classified. #2: Why would the 7% rule ALONE make it a conspiracy? The IRS itself is above and beyond the cost of most collection agency fees. EVERYTHING in the government costs much more money than private industry. It doesn't take a conspiracy to drive that. This is one of the reasons why we should take as much out of the governments hands as is practical. #3: Friedman has made statements about "direct financial assistance to the poor". But these statements were not favorable. While he said that this was the only type of financial program that actually gave more money to the poor than any other type, it is not actually effective in bringing them out of poverty. Is SS a conspiracy to bankrupt the USA? It's possible but it doesn't need to be. "A group of individuals" (I haven't been able to find out who they were) came to FDR and said they knew a way to keep the federal government under Democrat control for the next 20 years. They presented an entire package of economic reforms (not original, but packaged specifically for him) that were essentially socialism for America. Social security was in that package. So, FDR's motivation was simply to keep Democrats in power. As for these others...? Is Obamacare a conspiracy to bankrupt the USA? I think so. The federal government is already in out-of-control spending mode. Obama's administration is about to overspend all other presidents combined. All other nations (Sweden excepted) have observed major financial issues due to socializing healthcare. Many have taken measures to make it less friendly to the consumer. And Obamacare when fully active will be paying for 20% of the economy. And we're wondering why the economy is at a snails pace. Quote
NeuroTypical Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 #2. The known overhead cost of Social Security is about 60%. This means that of the funds we citizens get to know about that for every dollar the government distributes - $.40 will go to some old person trying to live on Social Security. Call for source. Just how exactly is this known? SSA.gov tells a different story: The table below shows Social Security administrative expenses, by trust fund. Since 1989, such expenses have totaled one percent or less of combined expenditures from the trust funds. Quote
