Can't we do both?

We've been doing both.  For decades.  But today's trend is that Climate Change is our biggest threat and, therefore, has to be our immediate focus for all our resources.  This is not just the political class saying this.  The Pope himself supports this.  I actually gritted my teeth through 20 minutes of a nationally syndicated radio show interviewing this contributor with the contributor spinning a yarn on how Climate Change is the reason why Syria went into a civil war and why we have Syrian Refugees.

I don't think anyone (except some fringe environmentalist groups) are calling for an end of capitalism and industry. I would argue that a society can "evolve and adapt" through preventative and reparative measures. That includes our industrial giants (corporations are people after all, right?  :P ). And yes, it may eventually be concluded that relocation is the best option for our survival, especially if climate change is less man-made than we thought. I see no reason to jump immediately to that solution though.

The Kyoto Protocol of the early 2000's all the way to the Climate Summit just last week point to the same thing - Capitalism is the root of the Industrial Revolution that is destroying the Planet through Climate Change.  Speech after speech after speech points to it.

My point is that, atheists tend to make fun of theists because we use faith to explain much.  But atheists themselves don’t realize how much they also rely on faith -- often blindly.

I don't disagree. I like to think that science is more malleable in the face of new evidence and facts than religion (and I absolutely believe there's some truth to that), but the fact is that everyone has an agenda these days. I try my best to stay informed, but at the end of the day I'm a bar manager, not a scientist.

When all is said and done, it's probably a safe bet that there's some flawed science being spewed on both sides of the debate, but I tend to see a more honest effort on the liberal side. Watching Republicans in Congress try to deny global warming makes me weep for humanity. The fact that their arguments have literally boiled down to "this is a snowball from outside this building" tells me that we have a long way to go before we can have a reasonable discourse on this issue as a nation. I'm not saying that the liberals got everything right on this issue, but it's very clear that the conservative side of the issue (at least where our policy-makers are concerned) have a great deal to educate themselves on (as do I, obviously).

As far as the corrections... There is a LOT to correct.  That may take several posts.   I'll try to organize some things from beginner to advanced.  Maybe I'll start a new thread.

I would certainly welcome that.

I see the opposite.  Remember, I'm not American, so I declare no loyalty to either political party.  I come from a political family though, so I have tons of experience in political maneuverings.  The way I see it - it is the Democrats that are pushing the agenda.  Usually, the guy pushing the agenda is the one that has to gain by it.  But, of course, it's not always the case that the agenda is a bad one.  But, when I saw Al Gore's movie with a scene of a polar bear sitting in an ice floe... that's when I laughed out loud and started to pull the curtain to see the wizard.  And, to be honest with you... none of it from the Democrat side makes ANY sense at all.  Think about Carbon Credits for example... How, in any way shape or form, does THAT provide ANY solution... ANY AT ALL... to climate change?

Now, Republicans, as I see it are the skeptics.  Republicans are politicians and they know what the wizard is trying to do behind the curtain... I mean, if I can see it, I'm sure they see it 10 times more clearly.  So, the Republican argument ceases to be a response to Climate Change but is simply - and nothing else - a response to the wizardry.

So, the more Climate Change is used as a political football... the more Climate Change becomes ignored.  The only way you can really get good science out of the thing is to remove it from the political arena... completely... but alas, that's an impossible task these days.

I agree with this 1000%.

your assertion that Obama is seeking a third term and dreaming of a thousand year Reich. You have yet to substantiate that claim.

1 Third term

2. His actions in importing millions of compliant voters and enabling them to vote even before getting citizenship (the motor voter law)  bespeaks his intention for a thousand year reign  for the Dems.

The more immediate view should be concerned with the hearts of people who think that killing another person makes their lives better.  For what good is caring for the environment when we can't even be bothered to care for each other?

pick any venue. you'll find that principle to be applicable within it. Does it matter by what means you use to injure another's life?

my comments were limited to the environment. not life in general

NOAA uses tainted readings that the so-called climate scientists use to justify the global warming farce.

You know what's the difference between climate change and Santa Claus?

One is a jolly old fat guy who flies a sleigh powered by reindeer and goes around on Christmas Eve giving toys out to good children.

The other is a myth.
