New Member Re-Direct Loop

My son was trying to sign up as a new member of the forum.  He is having trouble logging in.  He tried the link for those having trouble logging in.  It sent him into a re-direct loop.

 

Is there a problem?

I recently experienced something like that. After logging in to the normal login, the redirected login, or the if you are having problems logging in log in, normally manually going back to lds.net would show me as logged in.

If not there is a new login problem.

I remember on the old software, there were 2 sign-in links and one worked, but the other didn't. I don't know if there's an issue like that here. I think pam has most access to the techy side of stuff.

 

We're all a little loopy here, so he'd fit right in, anyway.

Could it be that the server is detecting that we're at the same IP address and thinks we're clones?

That hasn't been a problem before that I know of. For instance, Faramir and I have the same IP, and we have others in the same households that are able to register and sign in without problems. 

 

(Note to those with sockpuppet wishes: don't do it. It's against the rules, and you will get caught.)

But my self-esteem is probably already too high, and bordering on pride.  So I'll put the idea out of my head.

That's what I need. A sockpuppet. I will call her Bjorkä and find her an avatar of some old guy. She will spend her time extolling the virtues and infinite insight of Vort. Or maybe she will say really silly things that I can point at and laugh.

Could I make a sock puppet if it is clearly indicated it is a sock puppet. Such as a username saying "Crypto'sSockpuppet" and then a disclaimer in the signature stating "Crypto and CryptosSockpuppet are the same person"?

And, they do get caught.  Eventually, they make some mistake and we (the mods) catch it.  And, then they are banned.  So, if anyone is reading this and actually thinking of doing it.  Don't!!
