mirkwood Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 Excerpts below. Full link at the end. Dallas Police Save Life of Protester Who Was Agitating Them Moments Earlier “I want to give our viewers something positive. Because the media would never report on this,” Jones said. “And the guy even told us this when he gave us this story.” In an attempt to demonstrate his own frustration with the police, a protester named Lynn Mayn deliberately walked slowly to force police cars following the march to drive at an extra slow pace. During his slow march, Mayn recorded himself on his cell phone, shouting agitating remarks at the police. Suddenly, out of nowhere, gunshots rang out. “One of the police officers pushes him out of the way,” Jones said. “Skins up his knee. But he pushes him out of the way to save his life.” The police officer protected Mayn from the line of gunfire. But a bullet hit the officer’s partner instead. “His partner was one of the deceased last night,” Jones said. “This is the story that should be told. Because this is the way I believe 99% of the police officers are,” Glenn said. mirkwood Posted July 12, 2016 Author Report Posted July 12, 2016 This is the 99% that the media won't ever report. It isn't interesting or sensational. This actually happened last night but there will never be media coverage of these types of incidents. They happen all the time but isn't considered newsworthy. It doesn't promote an agenda. Officers responded to the address of ***** ***** in response to a burglary in progress. Dispatch indicated the suspect of the incident had just broken a window at this residence. When Officers arrived on scene there was a blood trail located from the residence of occurrence that went east from the residence. Further east down the street from the address of occurrence the suspect by the name of ********* ********* was located. Mr. ********* was bleeding very badly from a cut on his arm, Officer ******** administered medical aid due to the high volume of blood loss. Officer ******** applied a SWAT-T tourniquet to the arm of Mr. ********** prior to medical arriving on scene. Medical transported Mr. ******** to the hospital in 10-85 C condition (critical). Fire personnel advised that the medical aid given to Mr. ********* by Officer ******** saved his life. 1st report of injury completed by Sgt. ********. LeSellers, unixknight and Sunday21 3 Quote
Guest LiterateParakeet Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 Great story. There is a Facebook page that shares stories like this. I think the page is called "Good Cop Stories". That is one of the great things about social media, we're not limited to what the traditional media sources want to share. Quote
unixknight Posted July 12, 2016 Report Posted July 12, 2016 @mirkwood, @LiterateParakeet makes a good point. Have you considered maybe creating a website to promote stories like these? Sunday21 1 Quote

Guest LiterateParakeet Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) This was a great idea. Police and Black Lives Matter Hold a Cook Out and Praise Rolls In http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/07/19/486581466/police-and-black-lives-matter-hold-a-cookout-and-praise-rolls-in Members of the Wichita, Kan., police department spent Sunday afternoon eating and talking with people from the community, at a cookout that was planned with the local Black Lives Matter group. The event was called the First Steps Community Cookout — a reference to its goal of bridging the gap between police and the community they serve. Taking place instead of a protest that had been planned for Sunday, the cookout came about after Wichita Police Chief Gordon Ramsay had a lengthy meeting with activist A.J. Bohannon and other members of the local Black Lives Matter movement. Bohannon told member station KMUW that the cookout gained even more importance after news emerged of a gunman's deadly attack on police officers in Baton Rouge on Sunday morning. One of the black moms said, ""It was a bonding moment where the police saw them as children and my [sons] got to see them as people! It was a great first step Chief Gordon Ramsey and Wichita PD!"
