Guest Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 I don't know if this is helpful, but I'll give it a shot. I knew almost nothing about my dad's family. I got the impression that he wasn't close to his dad's family and that hard feelings were there. My dad was a remarkably kind and loving man, and so dedicated to us. I don't think he grew up with that. As I work on his line, I see that a couple of generations up there were similarly remarkable, loving people. I like to think that as I find their names and learn about theM, that Dad is finding them, teaching them, getting to know them, and that maybe some family healing is happening. I do feel a greater measure of help and protection as I seek to do their work, though I can't explain exactly how or why. I do believe that God's kingdom operates in an orderly way. I believe that stewardship is important, and I think has a connection to priesthood authority, which is obviously tied to proxy temple ordinances. I'm excited to learn more about that. I know my ideas now are in infancy. Quote

I know my ideas now are in infancy. I am convinced that whatever we view; that if we consider only what happens between birth and death – that we have a very incomplete picture. In addition many think of eternal families as relationships that continue after death. I believe the understanding of eternal families is incomplete without consideration of possibilities of relationships before we were born. The Traveler zil 1 Quote
Guest Posted November 1, 2016 Report Posted November 1, 2016 I was discussing this with my wife recently and I had an experience that I have never before had. When I want to gain a testimony of the topic, I first study it out and get an understanding. Then I ponder and reason things out with prayer. Through the process, greater understanding comes. Then with that greater understanding I gain a testimony of it. What I recently experienced was that I heard my wife's words and I knew she was right. I knew it was true. I KNEW we had to have a welding link through all generations of time. Yet with that knowledge and testimony came no understanding. I still don't understand it at all. I don't know the reasoning. But I do know it is true. This is more than simply "trusting someone else" who knows better, which I've done on more than one occasion. This was a firm confirmation that it simply is so. It was quite amazing. Quote
