Whatever else you should be doing (and there are many things that fall under this rubric), find your eternal companion is Job 1. Lehi I just hope there are better ways than Tinder. Quote

Things are going to happen in the Lord's time so shouldn't we be focused on trying to grow in intelligence? If you are not applying the truths you learn - what you focus on will not matter. Focus on the Lord, then you will inevitably focus on the right women in the right ways, and enjoy the right outcome. Quote

Those things will happen once I become a better person both temporally and spiritually. You'll really need definitions if you're going to pursue these goals in this manner. What does it mean to "improve yourself"? What does it mean to "become a better person"? The one trait you really need to have by the time you get married is the willingness to sacrifice for others. If your future wife also has that trait, then get a basic foundation of spiritual and secular things. But you can't expect to be perfect by the time you get married. You become perfected through a marriage guided by the Lord. As @Connie said, you learn a lot by becoming a partner and a parent. I learned a lot about management of people through being a father. That has carried over to my work. And I've become a sought after engineering manager because of it. Quote
