The ones I'm thinking of aren't actually crispy, in spite of the name.  They are almost fudge-brownie-like in consistency, coated with powdered sugar.  Google has a few recipes, but my aunt has a cookie store in California and hers are by far the best I've tasted.

When I retire, if I live that long, one of my goals is to perfect some potluck contributions. I made some ethnic Scottish recipes like trifle. These did not go down well. Someone referred to it as leftovers. Pearls before swine. I thought of the Scottish version of raspberry crumble but this would probably get the same reaction. I could try pies but the crust is tricky. I have decades to come up with something!
