Hope someone enjoys starwars as much as I do :)

the following is disbey canon only. I have seen all canonized movies, Starwars Clone Wars, and played through Force Unleashed. I have not read any canonized books or watched Starwars Rebels.

BALANCE AND THE FORCE

A thought I have been having a lot lately deals with the phrases used so often in Starwars "Bring balance to the force". As understood by the Jedi, that means ridding the universe of the dark side because it is deemed unnatural.

They also talk about a "chosen one" risen by the force to come forth and bring the balance. This suggests that the force plays an intimate role in the universe and the bringing about of the balance. Many theories also talk about how therebfir force sensitive people that the force is keeping alive to further its design. People like Han Solo, Leía Organa, Jyn Ersno, Chirrut Imwe, Chewbaca, and many more (this explains why storm troopers can never hit their targets ;) ). With this in mind, we can conclude that the force plays a MAJOR role in the out come of many wars and events without controlling the agency of the force users.

WHY THE JEDI ARE WRONG

As mentioned above, the Jedi believe the force is seeking balance, which they claim to mean the removal of the dark side. This is likely due to ancient interactions with the force and the forth coming of the prophesy of the "chosen one". Those who follow starwars closely likely know that the chosen may not just refer to one being, but rather any being raised by the force to restore balance (i.e. Luke and Rey).

now we all know what balance is, it is an equality of opposing forces. What I'm about to propose is that the force is in fact seeking a balance, but the Jedi are wrong in their definition. Balance in the force is the equaling if both light and dark and not the removal of dark.

THE CHOSEN ONES

If you remember Anakin Skywalker, he has no known father. One accepted theory was that he was conceived by the force. Why did this happen? Why did the force have a child so force sensitive and so attracted to the dark side conceived? Because the Jedi, a force predominately light side, was becoming far too powerful and balance was lost. The force brought Anakin to the universe to re balance the scale. In episode three, Anakin, with the help of Sodious, did so and wiped out the while complete Jedi order. After episode 3 finished, the scales were clearly balanced.

light: Obi-wan, Asoka Tano, Yoda, General Kota

dark: Darth Vader, Darth Sidios, Darth Maul

(Far from a complete list)

Soon the Darkside became over balanced and so the Force in anticipation raised Luke Skywalker and he removed two of the strongest dark side users. The universe and he himself became a powerful light side user. Later, after a serious of unfortunate events with some padawans he was training, the darkside began to grow and the light force nearly disappeared. Here the force brought forth a third chosen one, Rey, to re-balance the scales. It cold also be argued that Snoke and Kylo Ren were brought forth to bring balance as well. Luke and Rey vs Snoke and Kilo.

The force cares little about good or evil, and in fact as no conception of the two. It seeks only balance.

Actually, Lucas didn't really refer to the EU all that much.

At the end of Episode 3 it was balanced to a degree, but only because each side had two champions for it.  They were Master and Apprentice (or Master and Lord).  That would be

Darth Sidious/Palpatine = Sith Master (Dark Side Master)

Darth Vader = Sith Lord or Dark Lord of the Sith

Yoda = Jedi Master

Obi Wan Kenobi = also a Jedi Master, but the Jedi equal to Darth

However, it wasn't completely balanced, though it remained somewhat balanced throughout the Original trilogy in a similar manner.  When Luke started to learn the force, he replaced Obi wan and became the Apprentice to the Master or it was then Yoda and Luke to counter Palpatine and Vader, at least to a degree.

It truly became balanced when Yoda died, and Palpatine died.  Vader balanced it out completely by himself by Killing Palpatine leaving only one on each side which would not kill the other, both which had never become a Master which was Anakin and Luke.

The rest of the EU stuff, well, that didn't really enter into Lucas's equations as far as I know.  They were their own thing with people creating ways and theories of their own.

Now that it is beyond Lucas's control, who knows what Disney feels about it or how they will interpret it.

Its about restoring order to the universe. Perhaps it was a somewhat incorrect word George Lucas used in saying "balance" as the Jedi mission is to restore and preserve order which is a balance in that sense but more properly its a preservation of good by destroying the evil.

I never thought of it as their being "order", but that makes sense. I remember reading about an ancient force using race that used both light and dark do their benefit and lived in harmony. Also with the force being in perfect balance when Luke and Darth were the last force users and both of them at peaceful terms, that makes sense too.

what I keep thinking about is the prophecy part mentioned throughout the prequels. How can there be a prophecy if the force itself isn't playing some sort of guiding role in the universe. With the creation of Anakin (having had no father), it seems the force raised somoeone from to the dark side at a time of clear light side dominance. Then Luke and Leía were born right after the Jedi Genocide where the darkside began to flourish.
