Perhaps it is a guy thing verses a girl thing but my wife is most concerned with security.  For example – all the doors and windows must be closed and locked at night.  When I grew up the house was never locked neither was the church.

Recently, since we are empty nesters, the wife has been more concerned about security in our home.  All this despite the fact that no one has ever stolen anything or broken into hour house.  Never-the-less, I deeply love my wife and want her to feel safe.  So, I have installed lights with motion detection on the outside of our house along with cameras with night visions that are triggered with motion detection.   Also installed is the ability to answer our front door from our phones, where ever we are in the world.   All this is integrated with phone notifications.  A car cannot go down our street or even the street at the nearest intersection.  Neighbors can’t even walk their dog across the street but that we have video to look at.  It is so annoying – I have turned off almost all alerts from my phone.

Sometimes when we are out of town she will look at her phone just to see what is currently going on in the neighborhood.  The thing that concerns me the most is that we get so many alerts and useless crap that if something ever really happens we will ignore it anyway.

I'm not sure about women and security.  In my experience, the men are the ones obsessed with security - triple door locks, monitored alarm system, motion detectors, battery back-up system, a guard dog, and a shotgun.  Women's security is... the husband.

My security alarm are my 3 dogs.  You come within 10 yards of my fence you'll hear them from a mile away in all directions.
