Moksha Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 I want to see that film. Here is a podcast featuring the film's authors, Darius Gray and Margaret Young, that is marvelous in terms of presenting a detailed and accurate portrayal of Blacks and the Priesthood.Darius Gray, Margaret Young and John Dehlin are excellent on the podcast. Toward the end, you can palpably understand their long forbearance and hope. It is long but well worth it.Blacks and the LDS Priesthood:) Quote
pushka Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Is there any chance that these films will be available for purchase eventually? Quote
Doctor Steuss Posted January 24, 2008 Author Report Posted January 24, 2008 Is there any chance that these films will be available for purchase eventually?I'm still waiting to hear back from Marvin Perkins. From the film's website and donation forms, it looks like it might never make it to DVD.Here's the website where you can see the trailer:Nobody Knows: The Untold Story of Black Mormons Quote
WillowTheWhisp Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 I doubt we'll get the opportunity to see it here which is so frustrating. Quote
Doctor Steuss Posted January 24, 2008 Author Report Posted January 24, 2008 According to Marvin, they are still trying to figure out the best way to mass produce the film. Originally they were thinking about having it in movie theaters. Unfortunately, money is an issue. So, if you have any extra little change sitting around (I imagine even $5-$10 could potentially make a difference, especially if a lot of people made such donations), please help them out.http://www.untoldstoryofblackmormons.com/downloads/ifp-donor-form.pdfThanks,Stuart Quote

Moksha Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Isn't the Church currently putting money into media efforts? It would be good to bring this to the public. Quote
WillowTheWhisp Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 There seems to have been some adverse publicity in the press today regarding black LDS so this movie really needs to be shown to the world. Quote
MJBY Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Actually, our plan is to do the film festival circuit, see if we can get a showing or two on the History Channel or PBS, do a very few theatrical releases (perhaps five theaters strategically chosen across the nation) and then release the DVD. There are a few little things we need to tweak, but we're pretty much finished with the documentary itself. And we are well into the special features. I anticipate that the DVD will be ready by the end of June. Next showing of _Nobody Knows: The Untold Story of Black Mormons_ will be on Sat., March 8th at the Egyptian Theater in Ogden, Utah--11:00 a.m., as part of the Foursite FIlm Festival. I would love to get it to England. I used to live in London. Margaret Young Quote
WillowTheWhisp Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 It's a shame you couldn't just ship a bunch of DVDs over here but there's the problem of the different TV format here. I really would like to be able to see it though. Quote
