I got to meet L. Whitney Clayton and his wife Kathy last night and this morning. We're having Stake Conference and they came and gave amazing talks. I took 7 pages of notes.

This was my first chance to meet a GA and I was not disappointed. He was funny and sweet and spiritual and.....well, it was just really neat. He spoke about the importance of the Temple and about sharing the gospel with love, kindness and patience; especially with our family members, even our children.

Good for you havejoy. My favorite parts of Stake Conference is Priesthood Leadership Meeting, when we get to sit at the feet of the GAs and be taught the correct order, procedures, etc., for operating in the church as leadership, and then the Saturday evening Adult Session. SC on Sunday itself it more generic, it seems, but those two sessions seem more personal. I always learn a lot more in those two meetings than the others. But that's just me.

Wow! Do you always have a GA at your Stake Conferences? I haven't been to very many even though I've been a member since 1984 because I almost always had to work but this is the first time I know of that we've had a GA in attendance.

I do live close to the middle of nowhere though so that may be the problem.

Unbeknownst to me, in my old ward there were relatives of James E. Faust. There was a baby blessing one Sunday, and there he was on the stand. That was really neat. I felt a tangible mantle coming from him.

Recently we attended the Ward of my best friend who happened to be in President Eyring's ward. My 7 year old did not want to sit in Primary so he sat on my lap in HP Group. (Then) Elder Eyring sat next to us. Of course we repected him as just another brother striving to magnifying his calling and did not make a fuss. However, after church, I told Alex (my son) who he was sitting next an Apostle. He ran to the van shouting, "I sat next to a 'fossil' I sat next to a fossil." True story and pretty funny I think.

How fun! I still crack-up when I think about how Elder Kikuchi came to stay with my husband's family and he stayed in my husband's room during his heavy metal phase. He didn't say anything to him about his posters - just wrote him a nice thank you note for giving up his bed.

It's funny how I sort of have a 'soft spot' for Elder Worthlin as he was the first General Authority I ever met.

A few years ago my late husband and I were taking some new members to a meeting where a GA would be present and he had arranged a seperate little meeting beforehand to 'chat' with the new members and investigators. It was quite a privilege to be in that room as the spirit there was so beautiful.

He told them how just that morning before he left he had shaken hands with a member of the First Presidency. Then as each of us left the room he shook hands with everyone and jokingly said, "You're shaking hands with the hand that shook hands with a hand of the first presidency." People were duly impressed and saying things like "Wow!" and "Ooooh!" in response. Then he reached out and took my hand. A little while prior to that I had been speaking to President Hinckley and so before he could say his bit I grinned and said "You are about to shake hands with a hand that shook the hand of the prophet!" He laughed and said "Oooh Wow! sister, I am soooo humbled." to which we all laughed.
