Winnie G Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 I read that new story, Is there not two other siblings in the same guard unit? My thought are with that family. did any of you watch date line Monday night. Letters Home, Quote
Guest Peace Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Wow, I feel so sorry for that family. Quote
Tr2 Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 This young man knew what he was doing when he signed the dotted line and committed himself to Uncle Sam. He was forced into nothing because he did it of his own free will. All other missionaries take note of this young man's selfless act to serve his country and put his life on hold. Quote
Faerie Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 oh the bad grammar and poor spelling in that article!!!! Quote

Faerie Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 I have never cringed like that while reading an online "news story." sure I've cringed over opinions, but THAT was ridiculous... but i digress... like Tr2 said (2nd in a day that i agree!!) this Elder knew what we was getting into and good for him for serving both his country and the mission field!! Guest curvette Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 It sounds like he's doing his best to adjust to the situation. What else can he do? (I agree that the article was very poorly written. Who edits this paper?) Quote
Guest Jiggs Casey Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 "I knew it was a possibility but I didn't think it'd happen," says Joseph Sellers.Um, right. Anyone who is currently in the military - either active duty, reserves, or national guard - who does not think he/she could be sent to Iraq is just not living in reality. The days of guardsmen and reservists being just "weekend warriors" are over. It´s true that he knew what he was doing when he signed up. Nobody forced him. I spent a year (all of 2003) over there as an activated reservist, and it wasn´t easy, but you gotta do what you gotta do.Kudos to the church, though, for not trying to help him weasel out of it.
