mormongal88 Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 My name is Whitney. I am a senior at BYU studying Elementary Education. I work for Deseret Book, which is always fun. I love music--play like 10 different instruments. In fact, I just got a harp for Christmas, which was a HUGE surprise, as I didn't know how to play before. Anyway, howdy to ya'll! Quote

mormongal88 Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 It is! Lol. Her name is Gloria. My roommates absolutely adore her because it makes our apartment look so cool. Quote
Maya Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Here is my instrument on the left : I wish we had Deseret bookstore here in Scandianavia too.. anyway we can by on the nett. Only problems are if we buy with over 40$ we have to pay 25% taxesand that the postal is usually as much as the book or CD you buy, ormore! I am free to start a bookstore here anytime! Quote
mormongal88 Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 Actually, a lot of LDS books can be found on amazon.com. That might save you some money on the book itself, but I'm not sure about shipping. I find myself referring customers there quite often. :) I attempt to play the guitar, lol. I got one for Christmas a few years back, but don't play too well. Never really played the drums, though I wanted to. I did play the vibes in the percussion section of a jazz band. And I sing for fun, like Ward Choir, etc. but not very professionally. Quote
Maya Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 I bought the drums to my son.. soon 18 when he wa around 8.. He loves to play them, but now he has not been able to as we have no place for drums where we live now... I know Amazon..never bought anything there thoug.. have to take a look... what was the name of the second part of the Alcemist.. we need that... Quote
Argentina84 Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Hi! I would like to play the harp too! I guess I will learn when I have time...just in case I don't get married! LOL My friends joke about my learning to play the harp. They prefer to play the violin! LOL Hope you have a good time here! :) Quote
littlemisschatterbox Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Hi! And welcome to the site..I'm quite new myself, but its pretty cool. And I think its pretty amazing that you play the harp! That's AWESOME! Quote
mormongal88 Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 haha...saying a "play" the harp is quite an overstatement. I can pluck out some hymns and melodies, but that's about it. I REALLY need to work on it. I'm not as used to string instruments as I am woodwinds. I do love it though. It's been my dream instrument pretty much my whole life. Quote
inthearmsofsleep Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Harps have always been a favorite of mine... but of course I've never played one. I've been playing guitar for 7 years, self-taught, but tried learning piano several times and didn't really go anywhere. Oh yeah, and welcome to the forums! Quote
mormongal88 Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 Most of my instruments were self taught. The guitar never went too far for me. I got it in 10th grade, so about four years ago. My roommates play it more than I do! The piano is SO worth it! You should keep trying! I learned when I was five and have had a total of about 2 years of lessons. I prefer to just play and sing at a piano by myself. That's my favorite thing to do. A close second is to accompany people. In high school, I would pull out the EFY music in my band room during lunch and have about 10 people around me singing it. It is an incredible feeling! And thank you everyone! Quote
