Today I had the opportunity to go to the Palmyra temple with our youth and do baptisms and confirmations for the dead. What a beautiful temple, and what a beautiful setting. I'm not sure if you know or not, but there are clear (not opaque) windows as you walk in (on the other side of the foyer, which look out over the sacred grove. And there is stained glass thoughout, all of the sacred grove and first vision. All temples are special, but I love this one!

So I took the opportunity today to go to the grove after we were done, so that I could be alone. When the weather gets good up here (about 3 months of the year!) there will be all sorts of people in the grove and it is distracting, to say the least. So I trudged out there in my suit in the snow in order to take a few minutes and pray aloud in the grove, because no one else was dumb enough to do that on a day like today. Neat experience is all I can say. There is a special spirit in the grove, especially when reflecting upon the absolute miracle that occurred there and started us down this path.

I love this area of the country. So close to the early church sites of Palmyra, Cumorah, Kirtland.

The Sacred Grove is wonderful! I visited this and other church sites on my way home from the mission. I particularly loved the Newel K Whitney Storehouse. I felt the Spirit so strong in those upper rooms.

I would love to visit there one day but I'm glad you told me how busy it can get so that I don't end up being disappointed with the distraction of crowds. There is a site I had always looked forward top one day visiting in Scotland and when we finally made it last year it was very disappointing as there were so many people there it was impossible to feel anything.

I love the sacred grove. I would love to take my children and husband there. I first saw it at the age of 7. I also like Joseph Smith's birth place. My mission was the mission that his birth place is in.
