VisionOfLehi Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I don't recall God ever saying anything like that.I believe I referenced a wizened Prophet, and not Deity. Quote
Shell72 Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I believe I referenced a wizened Prophet, and not Deity. But would you not agree that the word of God would superceded that of a prophet? Quote
Adeipho Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Reading this thread has reaffirmed a lesson I learned many years ago as a young lad in the mother country; Happy Heather = smiling and beautiful angel... Unhappy Heather = RABID PIT BULL (with a heart of gold) So guys, dont be pickin on Heather or her Mods, cause she will come down on you like a mother bear!! But, if you leave gifts of honey pots and sweet smelling flowers then she will provide you with an excellent site in which to interact with fellow LDS and a fun time will be had by all. *raises glass of kool-aid* TO HEATHER!! VisionOfLehi Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Probably not the WHOLE Bible. But... Where, Shell, does the Bible say that after you forgive a man you must put him and yourself in the same situation in which he created the incident that needed forgiving? Quote

Where, Shell, does the Bible say that after you forgive a man you must put him and yourself in the same situation in which he created the incident that needed forgiving?"If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." Quote
VisionOfLehi Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Yes, and if you continue reading those verses, does it say "And let him dwell in your tent also, that he may smite thee on thy cheek whenever he desireth to do so." Quote
MorningStar Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 I read an interesting interpretation of that scripture. Let me see if I can find it. It doesn't mean, "You slapped me. Slap me again." That would make about as much sense as, "You molested my child. Molest my other child!" The Lord doesn't expect us not to set boundaries for our safety, but not to harbor bad feelings towards people and let God be the judge. Quote
VisionOfLehi Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 I always thought it just meant "Don't fight back." It's a counter to the saying "An eye for an eye." But the LORD is saying, "No. If you are wronged, it's not okay to wrong them back. Two wrongs do not make a right." Quote
bert10 Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Wow that is very fair treatment. In the light of the info ....I thought this was very well handled. Peace be unto you bert10 Quote

ruthiechan Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 How interesting that I chose a sig line today that would do well in this situation. And odder still that a few hours later I decided to read this thread when before I decided to ignore it . . . "Grammy Flash used to always say, the trouble with an eye for an eye is that everybody ends up blind." -The Flash, Justice League Unlimited We would do well to remember that. Quote
BenRaines Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 I think it was President Faust who said in a recent conference talk but not sure it may have been another Apostle who taught. "Forgiveness means I no longer wish ill to the person". "If a drunk driver has killed a member of your family it means that you do not wish death or punishment on that person but does not mean you have to invite them to dinner. Ben Raines Quote
sgallan Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Most of the moderators think I give way too many second chances, but I think people can change, and if someone want to conform to the rules of the site and be a part of it, I'm all for it.I won't change. I am a godless heathen. I am raising another godless heathen. Godless heathens shouldn't be allowed on LDS discussion boards (this is the last religious board I actually get to occasionally). You should probably ban me for good this time and remove my contact information too. People like me are not redeemable and may corrupt the faithful because it is in our nature. Oh, and my alter-ego agrees. Quote

sgallan Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Thanks, but if somebody starts an over/under pool (to charity of course) on when I get a compaint about me lodged, and banned again, I'd go with the under. Quote
VisionOfLehi Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 You're not godless, just God lost. Quote
