yes, was bullied by kids. I could have punched back at a kid who punched me in the stomach in middle school. I did not told the teacher, she said I called him stupid for pushing on the door hard, when I was on the other side and got hit by it. Another door I was about to open, came flying open by another kid who kicked it with his foot and slammed into me. That kid apologized proficiently. Nose bleeding and I did not blame him angerly after all, he did not see anyone on the other side of the door. But was ticks me off, was I was sitting on a ski school buss heading to the slopes, and high school girl started to hit me at random times on the bus. The guys, sitting three rows in the back of the buss cheered each time she hit me. What do I do? hit back and have 3-5 guys jump me? Student puts a bannan on my head yea, yea, laugh at it while I was sitting on the buss. I tossed it back at him. He then grabs me and pushes me into the seat ready to through a fist at me, while one of my feet, was ready to slam into his face "got done doing 450bls with my legs that day and warned him" He let go and chilled out. BTW, kid was a pot head. Kids will always bully other kids but..I put part of that blame on the parents. Here is a REAL true story of a kid who bullied both girls and guys in highschoool. I went to my 20th high school reunion and met one of the other brothers of the same family whos brother bullied those kids all those years before. I asked him how he is doing and asked about his brother John how he is doing. He said he is doing okay but told me, he is really angry because, all these students who were at the class reunion, were asking him "why did you bully me in high school, I never did anything wrong with you". The students mistaken Dave for his brother John because his name take he was using was only written with his last name only. BTW, I even remember in high school asking the other sisters and brothers about john reported bulling of other students. They were discussed and mad at there brother. BTW, johns sister and brothers were nice :)

Yes, was in shock. poor guy died from smoke inhalation. As long as some nutcase insults another religion, some one will eventually pay at some one else s expence.

I keep seeing firefly and serenity. Were these so good, you felt as if you were immersed in these movies as if it was a dream? BTW, The most modern sci-fi series is Men In black. I had some good moments watching it.

We have three zucini plants out front. The one from the rear yard was transplanted out front. Shock killed its biggest leaves. Smaller leaves are now growing. The one plant that is taking in the least amount of sunshine, is the largest one! Its leaves are now 16 inches in diameter, and has 8 zucinnis on it. the one plant at the end of the bed where the cars drive past, is the second smallest. So, I thought zucinnis should be the largest plant if taking in the most sun?

There are ways of doing things that don't create as much of a mess. One of the creative ways was for our bishop to ask for everyone to bring there own dish and silverware to the pot luck. That way, they would not have to clean up nearly as much or little as possible. As for house cleaning, not much said other then, don't have stuff laying around the house that you may never use. Put it away or donate it. Me, dishes are dishes. some times they are in the sink over night, other times, they are cleaned up right away. We have a tiny kitchen "think of the counter space no wider then 4 microwave ovens side by side". So we cannot have much of a mess, if we need the space to make dinner.

I agree, when I was young, forbidden planet scared the bijibers out of me. I think it was way a head of its time for a sci-fiction. War of the worlds original version also, another amazin sci-fi movie. I-robot was really really good. I wished I had read the book.

Don't talk religion. Don't talk politics. And don't talk
bcguy replied to Bini's topic in General Discussion
I was a good kid in school never missed a day. I did see the paddle..with holes in it. But, that was for some one else. I wonder if kids are worse of today without the adults , principle allowing to spank them at a early age. BTW, me and my brother were always at each other like Spy VS Spy. Always trying to get into wrestling matches or annoy each other :) -
But if you want to learn more from a proven method, take the Myers Briggs personality profile. It is for the most part accurate. Also, look into a book called "what are my true colors" Mine is a green/orange. Think of me being on the set of mythbusters and I would be right at home

What kind of diease does he have? if its cancer, then cancer cells LOVE surgar. Which is why now, I am trying to remove it out of my diet. By slowly eating or starving, the cells slow down the reproduction of the cell , which are finate, do not reporduce. Some animal spiecies with very slow metabolism, live to a 100 years. Cells are only programmed to reproduce to replace dieing ones so many times. Cancer is interesting, in the fact its a normal human cell that has gone roage. Its dna is damaged by a toxin. It does not die..like it should. Something in the cells dna causes it to reploduce as penominal rates. What kills the patient is the cancer cell/tummors, rob the nutrients from the blood stream, and rob healthy cells of those nutrients. In essenace, parts of the body are being starved to death. Staying away from toxic substances that can damage the dna is key for a long life. But unfurtunaly no matter how healthy a life style you live, some people will not live a full life due to genetics they inheareted. My grandmother is inspirational. Never smoked, drank, leads a happy simple life goes to her church and has reached 90 years old. She is still independant and mobile. I should interview here and ask what she has eaten for most of her life. BTW, out of topic and into food types to eat, just read that the bannan peal is very healthy and has some susbtances the body loves.

talking about a walking relic of time, she is from china and is in the most polution free part of china. Luo Meizhen of China may be oldest person ever at 127 | Daily Buzz - Yahoo! News Canada BTW, with all the bad things I read about sugar how it acts as a fuel for cancer, causes inflamtion, type II diabeste, stroke and possibly attributes to heart attacks, I am going to go totally sugar free plus frutrose "corn surup". I stopped eating at fast food resteraunts years ago. But the only thing that I have yet to kick, is eating cookies or some sweets. Now I am just going to "give up" on satisfing what I like to eat, vs what my body needs. BTW, I have lost weight. I was 229 bls at 5'10" but now 200 bls. People do not relize just how damaging and dangerous surgar, futrose , fat "which type?" are to the body. We had a woman who had type II and died from pnumonia...more then likely from the food she ate that cauased here type II. This is the third woman to die from obisity issues in our complex under 50. Lets start a thread in lds.net on what foods are best for the body and what they specificly do. Dr Oz seems to be a good source of information.

I remember the late years of the 1960s outside Portland. Snow was 2 to 2.5 feet tall. It was wonderful and fun to play in. What are the snow storms in Portland like now??? Probably hardly nothing. Gig harbor, to the north in Tacoma, shows its bay frozen over and ice skaters on it in the 1950s. Washington used to get cold snaps that come down out of Canada and I remember it being bitter cold for a week at a time with temps as low as the teens. I remember snow accumulations of 2 feet or almost two feet in the 1980s. I do not think that happens anymore. Yep, our wonderful winters are disappearing. Less and less snow accumulating. Expect hotter and dryer summers.

Kids spent much much more time out side playing then they do today. It was not unusall to see a street full of kids doing lots of sports related things.

Physicist say that the universe is 6 billion years old. I am am sure it is older but, due to some prehistoric petrographic paintings in at least one case, it showed one image of what looked like a alien saucer craft on the wall. There are as many planets and Suns "Stars" in the universe as there are total grains of sand on earth. Out of those, a portion are habitable planets. It would not surprise me that there are other life forms. NOW, even if our first radio waves can be heard on other planets about 100 years ago, the first habitable planets hear our first radio broadcast that originally transmitted 100 year ago. If you ever watched the first opening scenes of the Movie Contact, it showed the camera moving away from earth and the radio signals going back in time. BTW, there is a huge astrology event in two weeks that draws hundreds of armatures to a city 4-5 hours east of me. I may attend and see some amazing images of stars and planets.

I attended a program for working professionals and the key speaker of the day was was to discuss the topic "how to keep the attention of your audience". What he was saying seems true in some aspects of what you may be talking about. I cannot speak on each and every individual IF they are experiancing depression, but some one who "Lights up" the audience. Do you think its the people who are depressed, or the subject that is depressing? I have noticed over the years, the talks can be a bit on the borring side. When a speaker goes up to the pulpit, and puts some fire or humor into there talk and makes his speach more engaging with the audience then the members are more likely to show more interest.

Probebly the most cool technoligy of its time. Alot of kids had them. BTW, I think the rubics Cube came about this time period. Seems like every other kid had one in his hand.

In fact, in the early 70s, you pick up something that looks like a cheap binoculares and slide that disk in and it shows the photos up close. those were fun times.

ohh yea, the 45 lp record. fun to see those and regyular records. I remember the Reel to Reel tap at some homes. Then the eight track tape. Then the casete then the CD for playing music. I remember in gradeschool we had a projector that was reel to reel and if you were assigned to run it, you were considered special. Ohh, I was the only one to sneek cherios in a small bag in my desk to much on when the teachers back was to me

1969. It was a nice warm july down in portland. I was very little and buged my mom and dad if I can used the new "cordless" tv remote control. It was big it was clunly with three big buttons sticking above it. It did not use batteries. Instead, it used air bellows technoligy that emited a ultra sound to the tv that had only 4 mabey 5 active tv stations. I asked dad to turn it on and both parents said ookay. they sat down, turned on the tv and the next thing we saw, was the Apollo LEM "eagle one" lander on the moon with Neil Armstrong stepping on the surface of the moon. He made the famous statment "One small leap for man....one giant leap for mankind." After the news concluded dad yelled "THEY DID IT" and pointed up to the celing! then said WOW. Ohh we did not have cell, computers, CB, back then. It was either FM,AM or TV with four channels :)

How do I tell my wife I am leaving the church?
bcguy replied to Swiper's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
swiper, let me ask you, do you really believe Adam and eve were made from the beginning? I hate to say it, but I think parts of the bible are wrong does not mean all of it should be condemned. Just Google "Arti and Lucy" these are humid "first human from possible evolution discover in the last 15 years. There bones have been radiological tested to be millions of years old. Alot older then when the garden of eden was created. I would say, pick what you believe and disbelieve in this church but if you select another. I am putting in as much as I can into learning the historical significance of human kind and how it fits into religion as a whole. -
some times a key word will trigger a distant memory. In this case, I remember this one girl, a blond with curly hair no makup always worse a white or other color dress to school. She always went to the library. She was pretty but, I senced she was very conservative. I was conservative also but never went over to talk to her. Then ironicly, a guy I know, who was friendly, asked her out one day. She started seeing him, then invited him to her church. She asked if he could go to the pulpit to say a speach Latter on, she found out he had been seeing a woman before he met her, and got her pregnant. She dumped him immediately. I knew this could never work. He had some one of a bad reputation but the brother, wow, he had a worse reputation and had two run ins with me with me being the victim. Anyway, long story short, I think more woman need to dress conservatively. I really like the way woman dressed in the 1950s. Just to bad woman cannot dress like this these days.

I agree with the survival courses. Its also a good idea to practice the very real event. Ever thought what may happen if your area lost a weeks worth of electricity? no power for fuel stations to pump fuel..unless they have a generator. I think a good survival course is something to learn from. I watch Les stroud when he is dropped off in the middle of a desert with next to nothing for a week, and is expected to survive. Guy is amazing and I am always learning from him.

survival means different things to different people and different situations. It is a function of how much of the natural supply chain is effected. It also depends on how geographically large it will affect you. I consider Vancouver BC rated as excellent when it comes to preparing for the big one. In every large building, there is a emergency earthquake Cabinet filled with supplies such as fresh drinking water and so on. If you really want to go all out for survival, take a survival training course. You would be surprised how possible it is to live in the woods, for a period of time. First most critical supply is water. Filters, iodine, are important. If its winter, a second pair of wool cloths that you can wear in the winter. Hand powered crank radio is good to have and make sure it is at least water proof. Hand crank flashlight or one that has the option to hand crank. Power bars for food. Two good sets of shoes or boots both water proof if possible. Phone numbers of out of area relatives. Do you live in a house or apt. what part of the country do you reside in?
