  2. GO NOLES!!!!!!!
  3. What color bikini????:D
  4. There is only One God......the Godhead is God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost...... and they are one God......one in purpose. What purpose? To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.
  5. Sorry Ceeboo....it's just a fact. I don't know specific groups.....call it some among the Evangelical movement. Google "are Catholics Christian...." No offense intended...I certainly believe that Catholics are Christian:) I have stated before that the debate over who is right is really only between the RCC and the COJCLDS.
  6. Some of the same bigotted websites that site the LDS as a cult also site the Catholics. Surely, you must know that many evangelical groups believe that the RCC is as bad as the LDS or JW's??? Just as we are accused of many falsehoods or just completely misunderstood by those who profess to know all the answers.....so to is your faith accused of many falsehoods.
  7. Hi Ceeboo, I don't know of any church doctrine that suggests that God has a God and so on.....and I adhere to all doctrines of salvation and saving principles as taught by the Church.......
  8. Just for the record Mormons are Christians and some Christian groups don't consider Catholics Christian either........and I absolutely agree...we need to know the nature of God...as it says in Holy writ, " 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
  9. From Lectures on Faith: ( Joseph Smith) ......God is the only supreme governer and independent being in whom all fullness and perfection dwell; who is omnipotent and omnipresent and omniscient; without beginning of days or end of life; and that in himevery good gift and every good principle dwell; and that he is the Father of lights; in him the principle of faith dwells independently and he is the object of all other rational and accountable beings centers for life and salvation.
  10. We believe that if we are valiant in our testimonies of Christ and recieve all of the sacred saving ordinances available to us that we will receive Eternal life in the Celestial Kingdom and eternaly progress. We do not believe that we will become God or equal to him, but rather we can become like him. Yes, everyone who has ever lived or will ever live will have the opportunity to recieve the gospel, repent and if valiant grow and progress in the eternal realms. We believe that we will be heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.....to inherit the same glory and the same exaltation, until you arrive at the station of a god (small g) and ascend the throne of eternal power. Godhood is to have the character, possess the attributes, and enjoy the perfections which the Father has. It is to do what he does, have the powers resident in him and live as he lives, having eternal increase. It is not to become equal to God the Father. As for God having a God and so on.....no. He is it...the Almighty.
  11. Otterpop, You seem like a passionate advocate and I am sure any abused children are very fortunate to have you on their side. I don't seek to make abortion a criminal offense..I would like to see it used as a last resort. Incidentally, both parties use the issue as a rallying cry.......But again the situations you described, while unfortunate still only accounts for 7% of all abortions. Thank goodness for people like you to help with these sad situations. As a Latter Day Saint I adhere to the guidance provided by my faith. I believe that decisions have eternal consequences and that we are eternal beings and as such we have to look at decisions through an eternal prism and recognize that our existence here is brief and that no matter how difficult it is....we should always choose what is right and moral. Abortion is a moral issue....as is pre-marital sex as you know. My decisions in life tend to revolve around my belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His gospel, his teachings and his laws...shape and form my my passions. It's a tough issue and one I am certain that makes our Heavenly Father weep....... Thanks for your passionate and well thought out comments!:)
  12. You misread me......I am not saying you are bad....just expressing that people aren't so very different. I am not doubting the polls....I just don't think most americans approve of abortion on demand as reflected in the statistics that I posted on the OP page. No judgement here.... just discussing:cool:
  13. No.... I was just saying...I don't think Mormons corner the market on morals and standards......and Kona is not LDS
  14. If you were a woman and could have punched your own ticket athletically and academically, but got pregnant. Would you choose abortion....knowing the child you abort is the daughter that you now have and know and love?
  15. I checked out your profile and see that you gave no answer regarding religion. Just a guess but your probably not LDS? Atheist or agnostic maybe? I know many agnostics, atheists and flaming liberals who are wonderfully moral people with high standards......I am sure you are the same. Welcome to the site:D I am mostly put off by the shocking number of abortions.....it really is inexcusable. It is a symtom of a disposable society...... a selfish society.....and yes, an immoral society. I am not saying if someone has an abortion they automatically have no values or morals. I think and hope that the decision to have an abortion is painful and difficult. But again the statistic don't suggest that is the case......
  16. I think that the Americans who have forgotten honest morals are just more publicized.
  17. I am not advocating that kids should marry....merely punctuationg Otterpops comment that she wished kids were out of high school before sex. Out of school married and willing to be parents if necessary. Regarding minors....everyone is different. If my make-believe 16 year old daughter got pregnant...she would have the child and give it up for adoption. Incidentally my Mom was 17.......I am 43. I don't think she regrets having me......and I sure am glad of that.
  18. AbortionHalf is a bit of a stretch.......I don't think 50% of all Americans support abortion on demand. Most people are not asking for abortion to be illegal. Roe V Wade was judicial fiat. I think if you examine the statistics you might conclude that Rowe V. Wade has provided some unexpected results. Interestingly, Jane Rowe is now an outspoken advocate for life. You might ask yourself the same question. I don't typically ask whether or not someone believes abortion is right or wrong, to assume that I live in some different sort of world than you is ridiculous......... I live in the same world as you do and the same country and I never said it was a large majority. I think the argument is phoney and isn't intellectually honest. Just read the statistics......a pretty grim picture if you ask me. People aren't so very different....we all have fairly common goals. The source of my standards and moral compass may be from a different place than yours...but the standards are probably not all that different. I am guessing here, but you probably think the abortion statistics are outrageous as well and believe that people shouldn't be so irresponsible...??
  19. I don't disagree....but it is a typical argument that is often used....rape, incest or health of mother. Yet...that still only accounts for 7% of abortions. Again..... you have to completely ignore the fact that the behavior engaged in caused the pregnancy. I guess the simplist answer is that women are asked to take responsibility for there actions. It's just a fact of life......sexual intercourse can and often does lead to creating life whether planned or unplanned....wanted or unwanted. You obviously feel that a women has no obligation or should feel no special responsibility for the unwanted life growing within her......there because of her CHOICE. What about men? Should they have a choice? What about financial support for the child if the womed has the baby and they don't want to be a Father yet? Should he have the right to demand that she put the child up for adoption? Shouldn't he have some say so in whether or not she brings his unborn son or daughter in to the world? Well.......lets be honest for a moment. Rowe V. Wade was pure Judicial fiat. It wasn't something that was voted on........ it was thrust upon Americans whether they agreed or not and no way would it have passed as the law of the land.I do think there are extenuating circumstances.......my major beef is that abortion is rampant. It has become the litmus test for feminists. There are irrational voices on both sides. I don't believe that abortion will ever be illegal.....but some aspects like partial birth abortion and the farming of the organs and the militant desire for minors to be allowed to have an abortion without parental knowledge and consent need to be stopped. Minors can't have a tooth pulled without their parents....but in some states they can have abortions????????? Then why aren't there more voices speaking out about the tragedy....because it is a tragedy. Many obgyn's say it is never a necessary procedure......but I am not an expert. That would be incest...disgusting and stll only accounts for 1% of abortions. Most pregnant teens don't want to face there parents and are not equipped to make these decisions. There parents should know....even if they are rotten parents. This crosses a big time line.....it is not up to anyone but the parents......if the parents are bad...remove the kids, if not, the parents make the decisions. Sadly it is......right to privacy??? Judicial fiat. Look at the results...read the statistics. Is that really what women wanted....because that is the fact of what it has become. Birth control....quick fix to a bad decision or unexpected result of a moment of passion. Most women who have an abortion will have more than one..... so the experts at Planned Parenthood say. And maybe then they would understand that there may be consequences to the action and might consider being married.......IMO
  20. I think half is a bit of a stretch........
  21. From Planned Parenthood: If You Are a Teen … Teens are encouraged to involve parents in their decision to have an abortion, and most do have a parent involved. But telling a parent is only required in states with mandatory parental involvement laws. Such laws force a woman under 18 to tell a parent or get parental permission before having an abortion. In most of these states, if she can't talk with her parents — or doesn't want to — she can appear before a judge. The judge will consider whether she's mature enough to decide on her own. If not, the judge will decide whether an abortion is in her best interests. In any case, if there are complications during the abortion, parents of a minor may be notified. Can't drink alcohol yet or vote or maybe not old enough to drive.....but no need to tell Mom and Dad. Absolutely criminal...... if you are under 18...are you a woman?
  22. Kona is not a member of the church.....
  23. Not punishment....taking responsibility for your actions. Most pregnancies are not aborted until the 9th week or after........check the stats on the OP page. Nearly 50 % of all women who have an abortion....have more than one in their lifetime. 93% of all abortions are not because of rape , incest or mothers health.......it's about inconvenience. I think we could all agree that there are extenuating circumstances and that abortion has gotten way out of control. Can anyone really defend 42,000,000 abortions annually worldwide? Partial birth abortion? No parental notification? Clearly we have taught our children that abortion is a constitutional right.... a way to get rid of a bad decision. The standards of the world has taught kids to engage in sexuality early....not surprising that when the standards are lowered...the consequences go away as well.
  24. Hey Kona, I think abortion is abhorrent.... murder is a bit strong, but I think a lot of the problem is education. If you are a teen age girl and are taught that abortion is ok...a viable solution to end the consequences of a poor choice.....then it is easy to understand why so many do it. The answer is education and teach consequence and responsibility. Lastly, abortion is a grave sin to be sure. But, you can repent and be forgiven and be in full fellowship in the church. I am not sure how Heavenly Father will judge. There are lots of scenarios. The teenage girl who has been taught that it is ok is far different from the Dr. who performs the procedure...he certainly knows the deal. But these decisions are fort the Lord to make. Thankfully the church has spoken very clearly on the issue......its up to each of us to follow or not.
  25. I don't understand your point.......there are lot of unwanted and abused kids in the world...so should we just go ahead and end there misery by ending there life? Because they have bad parents....does that mean that they shouldn't have a shot at life? Perhaps you would be better served to explain to your children the consequences that often follow sexual intercourse...and what there responsibilities would be if they were to become pregnant. "Sorry for the inconvenience.....in nine months we can put the baby up for adoption..." seems like a reasonable thought. Then you have helped welcome a life into the world and taught the child the consequence of there action.
