So if the framer's intent doesn't matter then the Constitution isn't worth the paper it's written on. Flexible for the time? Okay fine...let's base our laws solely on public opinion. Then see what happens to all this liberal/left agenda. Oh wait, that's right...the Constitution is supposed to reflect the "enlightened" viewpoints of whatever left-leaning elite wants it to reflect. I guess the rest of us common people are all a bunch of gun loving religious freaks who are probably ignorant racists as well. Want flexibility? Then what the framers set up was a process of constitutional amendments. Want the pledge thrown out? Get an amendment to alter the 1st. Amendment to make clear that no mention of God will be made, period. Go ahead...everyone is entitled to petition their legislators and get the process going. And finally, maybe the framers were too dumb to see just how times would change and why the Constitution needed to be kinda ignored while a counterfiet interprettion is being held up as kind of a "God" for the ignorant masses -- like when the scientist in "The Island of Dr. Moroe" is killed but the other scientist hangs his body up to trick the hybreds to believe he is a God. Yeah, invoke the name of the Constitution to pacify the masses into believing if they go against leftist agendas they are insulting the founders of this nation. I guess that's the gameplan.

Oh I know, why not replace it with "The Lords of Kobol"? Give me a break, did you know that there were states that up until 1828 had state (not federal) churches established? So what did the framers of the Constitution have in mind then? Also, didn't it say a song about the preamble was what was used instead? Any idea of what that was all about?

Remember this was an Oregon school in the Portland area. Nuf said?

A 5 to 4 decision is only as good as whoever gets elected president this November and places new justices on the court. There are going to be vacancies for both liberal and conservative justices. Remember this when you vote.

Same-Sex Marriage and the Persecution of Civil Society
Fiannan replied to omega0401's topic in Current Events
Prove it.:) Truth of the matter is there have been no genetic differences found between homosexual and heterosexual genetics. There is no "gay gene". A few years back it was proposed that homosexuals might have different levels of testosterone or estrogen. However, when studying hormone levels as well as receptor site abilities no differences could be found. Then there was the idea that brain structures might be different -- but that too comes under question as the brain changes its shape and weight of various regions all the time based on both behavior, stress and learning (for instance, when you start learning a new language the portions of your brain that store this new information become heavier). Then you could throw out the idea of what gets people "turned on" but that too can be heavily influenced by psychology. One could suppose that a heterosexual Arab might dispise Jews so much that if he saw a naked Jewish woman he might not respond in a typical manner -- same might go for a Grand Wizard in the KKK if he saw a naked black woman. Years of telling yourself (consciously and subconsciously) that you are gay could have the same effect on a male if he then is in the presense of a nude woman. Then there was the idea that women who were prone to be lesbian had different shaped ears. Oh and let's not forget the one that women with longer ring fingers than index fingers were more prone for lesbianism as well. Gee, since my wife has that physical structure I guess I'd better keep a close eye on her when she is going to all-women functions in Church.- 70 replies

"pop out"? Nice way of putting it. Why not use the term "knock up" to describe a pregnant woman? What is so "dysfunctional"? "He who dies with the most toys wins!" Modern societal idea. "He who dies with the most boys (and girls) wins!" Basically paraphrasing the context of Charls Darwin's book "Descent of Man" which should be required reading for all high school students -- along with having to watch "Idiocracy". So are we comparing Gospel-oriented families with women who are single, sleep around, get pregnant with different men and then have Uncle Sam foot the bill? I remember reading something about Spencer W. Kimball in which he was talking with a man at the temple. The man had just married off his last child in the temple (all 8 had grown up and been sealed) yet he told President Kimball that he had not accomplished much in life. To that Presdient Kimball told him that he had been incredibly successful and he had every reason to rejoice! What was ultimately important in life is not your riches, your career or how society looks upon you but how close you are to God and how well you have tried to raise your kids. Maybe these 8 children had to make a few sacrifices but that is what makes them mature faster than some spoiled yuppie brat. Yeah, sometimes my 8 year old girl covers her ears too. I agree, if you make smart and healthy children (good looks might count as well:D) you should have as many kids as you can. If you have some genetic problem that makes your kids idiots or unhealthy then that's a different story.
-
As long as we have people with positive traits who will make up for the difference by having 3,4 or more kids.
-
Actually, Brigham Young felt that moral couples in the Church should strive to have as many children as they could handle, not set their sights low and then opt out of having that many chileren. Many a time his statements were of a spiritual eugenics viewpoint. And one cannot argue that good parents are more apt to have good kids than bad parents are. As for competency I suppose that depends on what we define as competent. I have known families who the world -- and many LDS people of a worldly nature -- would shudder every time the wife announced a pregnancy. Usually this had to do with economics. However, in many of these families the children grew up worthy and did a lot for the advancement of the Gospel. As for the western world in general though, I think you'd like this music video:

Okay, I can see your point. If the only people who were failing to have children were neurotic basketcases then perhaps their weeding themselves out of the gene pool might be postitive. However, I relly believe that many people who are actually quite altruistic in nature have been coned and brainwashed into believing that if they stop having children then they are doing "Mother Earth" a big favor. Then they receive positive feedback from their social circle as well as from textbooks that still promote ´the "population explosion" as well as media that overblows ans sensationalizes any environmental problems. I know a woman (she's not LDS) who is active in Rght to Life causes now but in the early 1970s (the height of the ZPG movement) she and her husband found out they were pregnant with their 3rd. child. They chose to abort due to environmental concerns coupled with the fact that none of their social circle had 3 kids. They are not stupid -- they are highly educated and would have been great parents to more kids. If people like this are not having children then that is not positive.

Meet the women who won't have babies - because they're not eco friendly | Mail Online This is rather amazing -- to throw away all your genetic and cultural heritage, to ignore all the sacrifices made by your ancestors to put you here on this earth, all in the name of saving the planet. All I can say is that they remind me of the yuppie couple that goes extinct in the opening/introduction of "Idiocracy".

Same-Sex Marriage and the Persecution of Civil Society
Fiannan replied to omega0401's topic in Current Events
Got a good point there Skip. Our ancestors sacrificed a lot to put us here today. They worked their tails off to clothe, feed and shelter our ancestors all the way down to us. They had faith -- they held a belief that was the best that they could for their times and circumstances. They fought off Muslims who wanted to subjugate them or enslave them, they fought countless wars amongst themselves thanks to self-centered kings and queens, and they lived through a bunch of disease epidemics that (in numerical terms) makes AIDS look like a pretty unimportant issue. Through all this they held firm to basic standards as well as a sense of owing to the next generation what the previous generation did for them. Want to know whý shows like "Sex and the City" are so popular in Europe? Because that is the lifestyle that is glamourized by post-Christian capitalism. What once would have been listed by psychologists as neurotic narcissisism and failure to be able to commit, or what religious circles would have rightly called "whoredoms" today is featured as ideal female role models. Religion is mocked in today's Europe and even in affluent urban areas of the USA. Nationalism -- the one thing that is pulling Russia from the trash bin´-- is scorned in Europe. And then they have assanine laws in places like France where a famous actress Bridget bardaeu (spelling?) was fined and could have been jailed for being critical of Muslims over animal rights. Our missionaries cannot actively do missionary work with Muslims in Europe (direct work) maybe because of the danger posed to them, or to the lives of a potential convert by the families. And so is it any wonder the native populations of Europe are dying out? Then there are people in the USA that look to spiritual black holes like Sweden as the ideal that America should follow. Puleeeeze. The people of Europe need to go back to traditional families. It's time that people besides just the homosexuals desire to get married and have kids. It's time the people there started to grasp pride in their ancestor's sacrifices and finally find their place in the scheme of things. There is still hope for Europe -- the Irish just gave the finger to the authoritarian EU constitution and it's time for people to look to Ireland for inspiration -- just as Ireland preserved much of the culture of Europe during the Dark Ages it could be the beginning of a backlash against the EU.- 70 replies

Yes they are, well, to a degree, but you have to admit that if you placed 10,000 lesbians on an Island they would die out unless they had a few men, a refrigerator and a boat bringing a certain substance to them that they cannot manufacture to help them in reproducing. As for putting 10,000 gay guys on an island they would die out completely. You mention women who go in for IVF treatment but leave out a huge number of lesbians who are raising children -- that being women who were married to men but at some point got turned off to men. Maybe they had an abusive husband or never really hit it off with males and then met a woman. Some may have 2, 3 or more kids and then get invlved with a woman and become lesbian. Don't know how this fits into your views on biological predetermination but it happens all the time. In fact, in states that still award allimony I guess if I were a guy who divorced and my ex ran off with a woman I would be a strong proponent of gay marriage so she could get married and I would not have to pay allimony anymore. The one thing I would point out is that if children do turn out okay in these arrangements as well as IVF conceptions they do need significant male role models (uncles, grandfather, etc.). I do not support gay marriage overall since I think we need to uphold certain traditions and marriage is too special to be tampering with. If a couple of women want to live together and raise kids then so be it -- they have two wombs at their disposal. I still do not believe that children who wind up orphans whould be adopted by gay parents unless the biological parent okayed such arrangements in a will.

A couple of things to add in regards to Revelations and books like Daniel in the OT. The only army able to field 250 million men is China. Up until now the idea of China being interested in the Middle East was not all that practical to consider. However, with China being oil hungry they have now forged alliances with Sudan (who blocks all the condemnations in the Security Councel?) and Iran. Russia is rather a rogue player at this time because the people described in the references to Gog and Magog were tribes that inhabited the areas of the Black Sea in those days -- not the Great Russians who are a blend of Slav, Finn and Swedish Viking (with a bit of Tatar thrown in). However, the Slavs are not reproducing at the same rate as the southern peoples and this, combined with immigration, makes it likely that Russia will someday not be run by Slavs but by the peoples who used to inhabit the ares described in Daniel. -
