  1. Personally I think it's ridiculous what these groups want to tear down.  We went through a lot of turmoil during our countries growth. I had ancestors fighting on both sides in the Civil War, they all fought for what they believed in.

Those groups who want to hate and destroy just to make their opinions heard.... I shutter to think of how far our country will let them go. How much more hate and destruction they will allow before it's considered enough.

  2. I was a bit taken aback myself by the support from the Church. How can they support something that is so wrong? Then I really thought about it, knowing that Church leaders had some reason for their "support". The word that jumped out at me was 'respectful'.  I can understand them wanting us to be respectful of our errant brothers and sisters. We may not agree with their choices, but we shouldn't give up hope they will come back to be the best they can be.

  3. ......I have been called to serve in the Munich, Germany & Austria mission!!!! Yaaay!

I am excited for you! Congrats!

and Germany and Austria...... beautiful area... beautiful!

I spent several years in Hanau (closer to Frankfurt) and I loved the people there... and the history!

Here's to your new mission call::cheerleader::cheerleader:

  4. .....but in the back of my head the principals i learned as a kid would always remind me ....... began to read the scriptures more and start praying again.....but i am reading the scriptures and listening to material available on lds.org.... i am still struggling with some word of wisdom problems..... i hope that soon i can get the courage to abandon fully my former life and become an active member again. sometimes i feel like i needed to go down that path to learn first hand the dangers but man i wish i would have just taken my parents word for it

OH LDSpunkrocker... WELCOME to the board!

Just a snipet of lines that jumped out at me in your intro. You are on the right track...I think you have remarkable courage to do what you have so far. As for the struggling with some word of wisdom problems... there are a lot more who struggle than people think. I have heard that what does'nt kill us will only make us stronger. And I fully believe that God has a special place in His heart for those who stray and struggle to find there way back. And I KNOW that those who have to work to find their way back, learn more, understand more and feel closer to the Spirit than a lot in the Church who just do just enough to slide by.

lol.... I too think we all in afterthought wished we had listened to our parents in some instances.

  5. Ever since I read this talk I've been happy to be called Mormon :)/quote]

Thanks Heather for letting me know the thread is back up again!

I can happily say that ever since I had a 4 hour pow wow with my missionaries 20 years ago, I have been happy to be called a Mormon too!

I know, I know.... Latter Day Saint :D

I grew up going to different churches when I could, and I found wonderful things in each of them, however, I found the answers I needed in the LDS church.

I have enjoyed the discussions with my non LDS friends and co-board members.... you guys are the best! (even if you aren't LDS) :P

  6. I'm a 39 yr old wife and mother of five wonderful kids, ranging in age from 22 yrs to 2 yrs. I'm also a grandmother of 2.

We have been members of the Church for several years, but are recently just coming back after years of inactivity.

I'm so glad I found this place and am looking forward to getting to know a lot of you. :)

Welcome kittymac! :) Cute name... it sounds like a song title!

Wow! grandmother and mother of a 2 year old too? How's that work out for you? I think it's cool!

I'm sure kids will love coming back to Primary and YW or YM classes. And I'm sure you will love coming back to RS! I'm smiling for you :)

  7. I stumbled across this site tonight....thought I would join and try to meet some new people to talk to.

I was baptized back in 04 by a wonderful missionary....still talk sometimes too. I entered the church a bit hesitantly...no friends or family with me. After a calling and classes and things going fine I gradually went to meetings less and less.

We all have our reasons for leaving the church - but I miss it now and then.

Just hoping to find someone to chat to - a tangible conversation I suppose. I often think of going back but feel awkward about it.

    Welcome to the site thalia.....:)

Rough to not have friends or family around to go to church with.... I remember the feeling, what calling did you have? And what part of church do you miss now and then? I ask cause I care :bearhug:

  8. Hi, my name is MetalHead,. My interests are listening to Melo-Death-Metal (some bands include In Flames, Soilwork, Amorphis, Anterior and Children of Bodom) and drawing.

Welcome MetalHead.... you caught my attention at drawing.... That I understood....lol
  9. The topics I was researching include family history (specifically PAF), family emergency preparedness and emergency plans for Wards and/or Stakes. I look forward to getting to know some of you. Please feel free to let me know if there is something I am not doing correctly.

    HELLOOOOOO SilverDove!

Welcome to the board! I had to smile about your research.... there is a sister in our ward who is into family emergency preparedness and food storage prepardness. She has had some really interesting and informative classes that I have been to. I have found a lot of info myself off of church websites.... it IS amazing how much info there is isn't there? :)

  10. Welcome to the board Angel! I love your avitar pic! :)

I wasn't always LDS... I joined the church after a lot of soul searching and prayer, I grew up with an agnostic and an atheist, so I kind of understand.

My first thought about you asking for that Book of Mormon was.... there is something there that you are missing and that little inner self knows it's in the book somewhere to be found.

UK huh? A little more moist there than it is here eh?

Anywho, again welcome to the board, and I hope you find what you need or are looking for again.

  11. ..... I've submitted my mission papers! My call should be coming next week and I'm extremely excited for that!!!...^^

Welcome to the board! Mission call next week? LOL a scene in "Singles Ward" comes to mind.... Idaho? IDAHO!!!!!! I'll get a map! LOL I still laugh thinking of that part :)

Seriously... missionaries are very special to me. They are the reason I joined the church years ago. I'm excited for you to get your call! :)
