The unfortunate truth is that the players can't choose the consequences of their actions. They can't force people to keep watching and attending games. I personally don't think that enough fans will "boycott" the NFL so that it'll make an impact on the bottom line, but if it does-that's the price they'll pay.

    I so agree.

How often have we been told that we have the ability to make a choice, good or bad, but with the choice(s) made- you face the consequences - good or bad.

  2. OK, but I'm sorry to retract my fan support for the Broncos. The disrespect for our flag and country shown today went over the line. It hurts my heart, but I didn't watch the Marines bury my friend who gave his life while fighting for these overpaid, unappreciative for all they have.....    uh athletes.

I guess I'll root for the Dallas Cowboys this year......  a first time for me. They were told they would show respect for our flag or find another team to play on.

As long as we're admiring large dogs, here's old man Chomp not that long before he went straight to heaven.  Isn't he adorable?

Zil- I'm sorry for your loss, there is something special about old dogs. They are adorable.

Don't move to Germany. Very common here.

    (I'm currently traveling in Germany.)

Mrmarkin- Hopefully by the time I can afford to go back to Germany- I will have this horrible allergy under control. German Shepherds are one of my favorite dogs.  If you are still traveling in Germany, make sure you have a chance to have spaghettieis - my family and I loved it, and you never can find it here in the states.

It is not a V8 moment but rather a very un-Christ like desire to get even or shut someone up that made them “feel” less than the authority of the doctrine.

Wow.... never thought that wanting my daughter to choose to follow the Word of Wisdom, or the words of the prophets, or the advice of her bishop, was a un-Christ like desire for anything.

Maybe I am wrong and should think about "rethinking" doctrine as it stands now..... I might be able to drink coffee again! I just have to believe... believe..... believe.

     Folgers here I come! ;)

I am convinced that for most - if you do not believe it - it is not doctrine.  And the opposite is true - if you believe it; then it is doctrine.

This also could be a slippery area for some of the head strong group individuals we have as adult children who actually believe that society laws and morals are now "true". Now, since they truly believe it's true - they now truly believe it's doctrine.

All we (I) can do is pray for said child to have a V8 moment and knock herself up along side her head when she realizes she should have made another choice.

Many people are allergic to pet dander.  It's one thing to have a service dog that is there providing a service to its owner.  It's another thing for every dog owner to think they can bring their dogs into any establishment they feel like it.

That's what happens when they start giving in to the first cute little dog hanging out of a purse.....it most likely will escalate into chaos of one form or another.  It has happened to many other businesses.

but we can ask if the dog is trained for a task and what task that is. I didn't really say anything as long as the owner held the pet, including cats.

By ADA law that's all you can ask the owner to determine if it's a service dog or not. That should be a clue to the animal owner that only real, certified service animals are allowed in that area.

service animals are only horses and dogs. Cats aren't on the list. If there's a no pet policy, those therapy or companion animals do not matter. They will be considered pets, regardless. The owner can gripe all they want.

And gripe they will! Interesting to know about only horses and dogs can be service animals..... I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.

I have a beef with uncivilized creatures in restaurants.  (Some dogs are more civilized than some humans.  Just sayin'.)

There are two definitions of "service dogs"

    1. Dogs who accompany humans in public, who have been trained to some sort of level of behavior, for some sort of socially acceptable reason, by some sort of real organization.
    2. Dogs who accompany humans in public, who are wearing a "service dog" vest thing that someone bought off of Amazon or eBay.

Honestly, you'd think that #1 is somehow "better" or "more acceptable", but you can't really bet on that.

Me and my house tend to like animals more than humans, so we're usually ok with any reasonably-behaved animal anywhere.  We'd gladly switch airplane seats with you to sit next to someone and their pig or snake or whatever.

I agree that there are many uncivilized creatures that are allowed in public places, have sat next to my share of them through the years. UGH

IMHO Those service dog wannabe owners should be given a ticket for misrepresentation of a service animal. A service animal has been trained and certified to help in a certain area or problem. They should be commended.

The wannabe therapy, companion dogs may be cute, cuddly and provide some sort of emotional support that a BFF could provide...... BUT there is a line that has to be drawn.

What is going to stop someone from really bringing a pig or a snake into a restaurant or from boarding a plane with their "therapy" or "companion" animal?

  10. I have no problems with a service animal that has been trained for a specific problem. I would gladly leave for someone with a service dog.

What really stinks is I love dogs, but I really am allergic to dogs and have a hard time around them in an enclosed area. I don't think that a lot of people know that there is no dog that is hypoallergenic, (even if someone told you there was). And just like those with food allergies-  I have to be very careful to avoid what will cause a reaction.

It's always a little scary to feel your throat start constricting up. I really do enjoy breathing.

I just wish that people would leave their dogs at home when they go out to dinner. I have a friend who lost her husband last year, and has a little furry friend she takes everywhere with her, and she understood my distress about the amount of animals in public places. Yet, that won't stop her from taking her longhaired dog on a plane when traveling.

Personally I won't use it for my chronic pain. I don't care how much pain I'm in or how much it might help. I know what it does the the brain and I want to be able to think.

Thank you for posting this! I don't feel so alone in my "discussion" with a family member who is hell bent on justifying her use of weed for medical reasons. We went round and round and she just doesn't understand my concern.

.....And for the non-soccer fans, you'd probably know David Beckham.  He played for the LA Galaxy.

The only reason I know who David Beckham is: my two grown daughters educated their "pathetic" mother on who is what.

Wow @Lindy.  Long time no see.  How ya doing?

Doing great Pam. Had some frustrating years dealing with life, losing both my parents within 9 months of each other, dealing with my stubborn adult children, but it's all good now. Two of my 4 children have matured into responsible adults...... the other two have matured into adults. :-)

I tried to get back into the online grove here and there- but failed.

I work with hubby everyday in our little business, and have been teaching in Primary and youth Sunday School for so many years- I need some additional adult connection with the Church. :-)

    How are things with you?
