  1. Talking to people face to face and in person.
  2. If you believe that Christ was the 'literal' son of God -- then it is not too far fetched to believe that the 'Fathers' DNA would be in the 'Son' correct? Even though Mary was a virgin, the substance was put into her body -- how, we do not know -- God's ways are higher than mans ways, as Harold B. Lee put it in dismissing the notions of prior comments from past LDS leaders who claimed the Father had sexual intercourse with Mary. Some believe it could have been invitro fertilization etc. Whatever your take is.....that Christ was half man -- half God -- or that he was fully human and fully God -- my point is that he had half of his chromosones from the Father -- an exalted being -- and the other half of his chromosones from Mary -- a mortal being. Perhaps you know what ethnicity the Father was before he became exalted and you can let me in on the mystery -- or would that be as you said, 'wasting so much energy from the fables of men' I was not seeking info from Snow as you concluded -- just copy and pasted a statement from the link he provided.
  3. Perhaps this is one of the key points provided in the 'what did Jesus look like' link provided by Snow. "Thus, Jesus would have had DNA that was either 50% or 100% created uniquely by God. If so, then Jesus could have had any height, hair color, eye color, skin hue, style of nose, etc. He may or may not have resembled a typical Palestinian from 1st Century CE."
  4. I'm glad Adam learned to get along with Eve, or else he might not have had much of a rib cage left.
  5. Frankly, I can't even believe your admitting this. This would not have been a mean joke -- it would have been a sick, warped joke. Perhaps you watched too many episodes of Bevis and Butthead while growing up.
  6. I was listening to the radio this morning before going to work and they broadcasted some of Howard Deans comments that basically echoed Baucus' comments -- but Dean came right out and said that it was a 'redistribution' of the wealth.
  7. That statement is just as wrong and narrowminded as the crap coming out of the mouth of a mainstream christian member or born-again member accusing the LDS of the same fate. Are you insinuating that the Saviour is going to cast these individuals into some doom-gloom fate because they don't belong to the LDS church?
  8. THEY'RE DROPPING LIKE FLIES By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN Published on DickMorris.com on February 15, 2010 Printer-Friendly Version Enter Coats. Exit Bayh. Bye, bye, Bayh! The first time Evan Bayh gets a serious race for re-election, he quits! The Scott Brown victory is still rippling through the House and the Senate causing retirements among committed, dedicated, long-term liberal Democrats. Seeing voter anger, they are heading for the hills. The process seems to work as follows: a. Public anger manifests itself in the Brown victory b. The improvement in Republican chances impels top notch, former statewide elected officials to jump into races against Democratic incumbents c. The Democrat bows out in the face of likely defeat. Suddenly, he wants to spend more time with his family. This process has run its course in Indiana and may shortly be manifest in Wisconsin where former Governor Tommy Thompson is considering a run against Senator Russ Feingold. It may yet play out in Arkansas where Senator Blanche Lincoln now has a top tier opponent in Congressman John Boozman. And Senator Patty Murray may hear footsteps behind her with the entry into the race of wealthy businessman Paul Akers and the possible entry of former almost-Governor Dino Rossi. Rossi lost the governorship of Washington State in a Franken-esque theft after initial counts showed him defeating Christine Gregoire by 261 votes. Now Governor Gregoire won in the recount. In New York State, billionaire Mort Zuckerman may take on appointed Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and, if he doesn't, former Governor George Pataki might jump into the race. When we predicted a Republican win in the Senate in 2010, some laughed. But nobody's laughing now. On a less high profile level, the House is also swinging Republican. The death of Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha opens the way for a likely GOP pickup in a special election and the Republicans now stand to pick up ten more seats through Democratic retirements. One wonders if the likes of Texas Democrat Chip Edwards, South Carolina's John Spratt, or Arkansas' Mike Ross might not be far behind in the race into retirement. It now looks more likely than ever that Congress will go Republican in the elections of 2010.
  9. I'm trying to figure out what would it matter if we did or did not choose our weeknesses or trials -- simply because we wouldn't be able to remember them -- so how would it benefit us one way or the other. I think there's plenty of pits to fall into here in mortality without having to choose any.
  10. I believe being your brothers keeper would apply to all Gods children also. It would be sad if it only applied to immediate family. I think that when unpredictable things happen to people is where the test comes into play about how people will spontaneously help that certain individual or cirumstance, whether how small or large the scale. If your talking about lifetime welfare recipients who have used the system or endless foreign aid that we have given as a country then perhaps we need to look at the 'Brothers Keeper' rule a little differently.
  11. Where's King Soloman when you need him? -- I'm sure he could figure this all out for us.
  12. If I have a one time forinication with another partner, that only affects me and my partner. If I peddle Heroin to kids, I bring a whole lot of souls into darkness and quite possibly their lives. For them they might overdose and die before getting out of the quagmire. Thus the end of a possible life that could have had a lot of potential. Me and my partner can have hope in the Atonement, and even if there was a pregnancy, that could bring great joy in ones life. Seems like I have heard something about turning your weaknesses into strengths. As far as the one-time forinication vs. putting smack into kids --- no comparison. (IMO)
  13. As long as people who smoke pot don't let it lead to harder drugs-- then I don't think it is that big of a deal in the overall scheme of things. I have known all types of people from my youth into adulthood who have smoked pot and been responsible citizens and took great care of their families. Most are very private about the use of it as not to let their children find out. Some do it for stress relief, some for recreation, some for creative purposes. Usually in youth can it lead to harder drugs out of curiosity -- usually later in life if the person still smokes pot, it's usually their only addiction as far as drugs go -- at least from what I have seen. Smoking pot usually only affects that individual whereas I think being judgmental can hurt someone else for a long time -- besides hurting the individual doing the judging. Most people don't partake like Willie Nelson does -- that being everyday usage.
  14. A most excellent idea bytor -- I love it. I will turn 51 on Super Bowl Sunday -- Feb. 7 -- In which my Colts will present me with a great Birthday present with a victory -- The 2 mil would just be iceing on the cake -- A new home -- new cars -- and a early retirement. I need to get you back to D.C.
  15. Anyone that has see Ed Deckers 'The Godmakers' will know that it was made by a disgruntled ex-Mormon who was quite bitter after being excommunicated (IMO) I did some reading about his personal life years ago and he seemed like quite the character. The movie has some truths and half-truths and some outright BS if I can remember right--it has been some years ago. I went to a collage campus years ago to hear him speak--I believe he was coming out with Godmakers part II--this would have been around 1988-89 if I remember right. He proceeded to attack Gorden B. Hinkley and I wont even repeat what he was accusing him of and that the local government was covering it up. Suffice it to say Ed Decker is a joke and some anti-mormons don't want anything to do with him.
  16. Over the last couple of years I have heard between 4.7 and 5 million members of the church were active tithe payers when the church reached the 13 million membership mark. Of course these numbers would have changed. But this should give you a ballpark figure of the members that would even be eligible to go to the Temple if these figures are close-- which I don't know for sure if they are--I have not done any personal research on the matter.
  17. I doubt when any of the men of WWII broke bread that they claimed tasted like sawdust and used their canteen water for the sacrament were worried about a Bishop being around especially being that there was only a handful of men (LDS) and being in combat territory. I'm sure they were much more concerned with renewing their covenants.
  18. How about just responding that 'I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ'?
  19. I look forward to reading some of your writings thekabalist-- sounds very interesting--I love learning new things. Thanks also to you Vanhin.
  20. Candy -- Here's the Dallin H. Oaks talk you were referring to. LDS.org - Ensign Article - “Judge Not†and Judging
  21. Give me a break.....The Bishop was sticking his nose where he had no buisness sticking it. What didn't he understand about 'yes' I am abiding by the law of chastity.
  22. I personally think your Bishop crossed way over the line -- when asked if you were living the law of chastity and you responded that indeed you were, that should have been good enough. I would have been offended that that answer should not have sufficed. His asking for details is way accross the boundry lines -- sounds a little spooky. Perhaps he has a little voyurism in him that even he is not aware of. As for these Single Adults that presumably can't distinguish what is and is not a sexual act or can't determine for themselves when they have crossed the line in the chastity department is really quite laughable.
  23. Actually Beck said that he took a line from Pelosi and that he 'mis-spoke' instead of lied. Oh, the horror of it all. YouTube - Gatekeeping Shill Glenn Beck Called Out on lying on the View
  24. Yes apparently I have not--I just keep seeing his name popping up and I have not read any of the threads regarding Mr. Beck. In fact I have not really been able to see much of Beck in the past or the present since I don't get his TV program--I have watched some of his stuff on youtube. One clip showed him on 'The View' and how he had flat out lied to Barbara Waa Waa and Whoopie Goldberg involving an incident where they were all riding on a metro train and words were exchanged about some things. Suffice it to say Beck admitted that he had lied. I am suprised to hear that many LDS have expressed great disdain or near hatred for him or that they will happily dance on his grave. I'm sure that there are many in the faith that like him, just for the mere fact that he has seen the light.
