So I am now the Ward Historian.. again, I replace no one so I have no leads to follow Ideas, suggestions are appreciated also to the mods.. I am not here often, so I may have missed it, but maybe a forum for callings so we can find info in the future and learn more about the different church callings.. Its neat, esp as a new member, to see all the different jobs that help the church run! Thanks!

I have been quite busy lately.. but I did want to share We have been members of the Church one year this month. My Husband and I received our Endowments and were Sealed to each other this past Saturday.. Immediately following we were sealed to our 7 children.. It was beautiful.. it was so cute to see them all in white.. I may have been more impressed with 7 children, 10 and under, all in white and there was only one mark, as I was with the rest of the day LOL.. It was nothing and everything I expected.. What a beautiful experience

I do not even know what to say.. I am so sorry this has happened to you. I can only imagine your hurt.. My heart breaks for you and your son.. I do not think the temple is in their near future either..

In most cases I am for states rights.. as previous posters have stated.. But not in the case of abortion, removing all "religious" points from the argument, its not a moral issue.. its a basic human rights issue The medical advances and information we have made in regards to the development and health of the human fetus since Roe v Wade, hold an incredibly strong argument for the illegality of abortion. I feel based on this information we need to regulate it. Its no more or less a moral issue than is murder.. right.. before any tax system changes can be made, the government will have to reconfigure how it is currently set up we have way too many government programs.. and its paid for by an unfair tax system..

from what I have read of the fair tax I am on board with it.. I think its the only system that would work efficiently

She came to me seeking them and I sent her here.. ********** I think your questions were in fact answered fairly, you just dont like the answers.. Again.. my initial assessment was right.. you didn't want to know truth.. you are not seeking this with an open heart.. you have already have your answer and you are looking for confirmation of it. You will never find it.. Just as you will not find the concrete evidence of the truth of our Chruch, you will not find concrete evidence that our beliefs are wrong.. even if we were to be wrong. At least not on this side of the veil..

now I am really confused.. there are rules, there are no rules.. does anyone have concrete info on this matter? I know we have our own agency.. I guess maybe I need some links to prophet talks in regards to dress.. and what the Church asks of us

Nancy hit the nail on the head.. My children, even at a very young age are allowed to make decisions within the restraints of my decisions.. when the do not Choose the Right.. they suffer for example.. one day my son was misbehaving.. even after I spoke to him several times.. Just as I was about to grab him, he slipped and fell face first in the mud.. I explained to him that was the consequence to choosing the wrong.. we have situations like that often.. and my kids learn first hand.. Those lessons are applied as they get older as well.. my children are learning that we have the agency to choose the wrong, but we also have the responsibility to suffer the consequences. They also learn they reap the rewards of choosing the right.. I cannot, nor do I expect to, raise perfect children.. I do expect to raise children who know the difference between right and wrong and have the ability to use their agency wisely..

Thanks for your input.. I thought proper dress, in and out of meetings, was something that we needed to be aware of.. just wasnt sure how to make sure I was following the rules.. Now that I know there arent any, shopping will be much easier.. so are the garments optional as well? or do you only wear them to the temple etc?

I am curious about dress.. its not a subject that has been discussed fully with me but I do have a pretty good understanding.. After seeing a pic of a member who was born and raised in the church, in a tank top today I was reminded that as I will be reaching my year mark I will need to know more do's and donts.. I am aware that anything showing the garments is a no no.. but are their other "rules" or suggestions.. for both my husband and myself, that we may not have been made aware of Thanks
