  1. My older boys are into the Magic Tree House series.. I havent read them, I should, but they love em. its fantasy meets history I guess.. There is another series I need to look up that they read that is history based as well I was a Nancy Drew fan as a child, and my oldest loves the Hardy Boys..
  2. as a "pet care professional" I would also like to add PLEASE crate train your pets... I have so many clients who say their pets "wont" go in a crate.. you dont want to have to teach your pet how to be in a crate when disaster strikes.. Victims of Katrina and other similar disasters can attest to that..
  3. thanks for the responses.. Maybe I will use those in our FHE tonight..
  4. I agree.. and it does.. her questions get me to look for answers. I also learn from the answers I find.. the more I learn the stronger my testimony.. so its good for both of us.. I wish I knew more.. In 11 months I have learned quite a bit.. but still learniong more each day I am currently enrolled in the Temple class.. again more new info.. I am not sure its possible, to remember it all! LOL not enough post it notes HA HA!
  5. My sister has been asking alot of questions.. she is meeting with missionaries, but she still has alot of hang ups.. at times I wonder what her true intentions are, but my role as sister and lds member is to be supportive and answer to the best of my ability so this is part of what she left on my page she is all over the place in our discussions.. she has evolution theories, she tosses in pagan beliefs, buddhist ideals, and for good measure her catholic background. so how would you respond to her statement.. Edited to add.. she has now joined this forum and this conversation :)
  6. I am slightly discreet but all I say is true to the best of my knowledge I could never keep up with lies.. I am organized, but not that organized.. I would forget..
  7. Congrats!!! Children are such a blessing I disagree with John Doe.. All my babies co-slept and learned great sleeping patterns.. I have never had bedtime troubles, they all adjusted well to their own beds as far as ceremonies, my youngest was 2 mos when we joined the church.. so we never had anything like that for now focus on being pregnant.. it goes by so fast and its such a wonderful experience.. both of you will gain so much from it.
  8. most easter egg hunts are now on Saturday anyhow.. I havent seen any publicized for tomorrow
  9. that sounds a bit like gambling if you ask me.....
  10. the democrats are now in a position to buy all the large companies in the US.. from banks, to auto manufacturers.. the government will own it.. and you guys thought republicans were scary... wait til you get a load of the democrats.......
  11. While I blame greed for it all.. The greedy are not all republicans.. so lets back off of the "8 years" thing.. economically the downturn started way before that.. as far as mortgages go, I agree with lestertheemt. I also want to add that many of the foreclosed homes are people who bought more house than they could afford.. yes, the banks lent the money, but the owners, by their own free will, signed the contracts we are counseled on living providently. Living within our means, buying a modest home. etc.. but even as members many have not followed this counsel. Homeowners need to take responsibility as well.. remember, it takes two to tango.. even in real estate
  12. LOL yep.. I thought of that I know its not "scriptural" but close enough.. she was still very important
  13. Hey great brainstorming Its a shephard mix. ~ little found on the side of the road dog I have not decided.. I will take the names and let the boy she belongs to decide from there
  14. But I need name idea for our puppy We want to use a scriptural name.. Female dog.. and the name has to be 2 syllables.. ( its best for dogs to have 2 syllable names in regards to commanding them) It doesnt have to be a persons name.. it could be a place or whatever.. So what do ya have? :)
  15. I guess I am the odd man out.. I am more concerned with keeping my house in line with the WOW than complying with guests addictions, as I stated previously Would you also allow someone to smoke in your home? use foul language?
  16. right but they can work with domain hosting companies..instead of the domain owners.. right now you have to be an org to get .org, so its not unrealistic, but I realize you will have some who dont comply.. but the majority would its not like we are asking them to close up shop.. we just want them to put black paint on the windows
  17. the only change the internet needs is maybe it should be mandatory that all porn sites domain extension be .XXX. fortunately it has gotten better, but I still dont like surprises as far as national security... I also see his point, but we have to adapt.. with advanced technology for good comes advanced technology for evil.. How much have we accomplished as far as missionary work due to the internet? Personal Education? Without internet I would not be able to watch general conference
  18. for us we do not watch much tv, but we do keep our little ones occupied with other things like games. We only own a few video games that are child geared, so they play those- Sonic, Cars.. they also love to paint so we do that ( after the church clothes are off LOL) I try not to get on the internet much on Sunday, but I do.. so its not just the kids we need to focus on.. I am sure I am not the only one who needs to do more teaching by example we try to do the activity as a family.. there are 7 children, the oldest is 10. As they get older their activities are geared more towards how to spend the Sabbath-(8 and up), but when they are little, its just teaching reverence and to enjoy being a kid. Those talks look like good reads... thanks for the links
  19. I love to hear Elder Uchtdorf talks but Elder Eyring's was the best so far this session I did not know about Elder Scotts family.. How sad.. and inspiring.. I dont think I could handle that..
  20. its been a while since I posted.. May 11th is the marker of the end of my first year as a member..Days later my husband and I will be sealed.. Many who know what adversity we have faced since the few days even before our baptism are proud we made it this far.. its been quite a test.. thats for sure.. but here we are. I have had so much going on but I need to study and learn as much as I can so I am here to ask a ton of questions I hope you have answers to :)
  21. the one I liked most was along the lines that Mary Magdeline I think it was, brought an egg to the king and it turned colors to prove Jesus had risen.. or something to that effect.. others were along the lines of pagan traditions..
  22. I guess I differ a little in we do not such items in our homes.. just as I would not want a visitor to have a drink or smoke a cig, act inappropriately etc, I would not allow them to have other forbidden items.. if they want options we have water, lemonade, milk, hot cocoa, and usually root beer or ginger ale.. I guess I would rather do without company than to comply with company who does not respect my home..
