  1. I definitely agree with this statement (but I probably wouldn't have 20 years ago). We know humans are older than 6,000 years and different species of mankind have existed. I also see Genesis as God's way of introducing himself to mankind.M.
  2. ** * * * SPOILER * * * * * It appears your inside information is incorrect. Add on another $28,000 and he's up to over #1,050,000. Go Ken go...go Ken go!!!!! M.
  3. No it isn't. Do you see the White Sepremists cheering for him? Whenever a black person does well do you see a rising of the NAACP? The only reason most people on this board care anything about this guy is because he is mormon and this looks good for your church. I'm not stupid, please don't pretend I am. I'm cheering him on because I think he has a lovely brain and he seems like a nice guy. As Snow can attest to "it pays to be a nerd" (or is that geek - I've heard there is a difference). M.
  4. I personally find it hard to type with my feet, so I would do what's most comfortable for you. :) And welcome to the board nessa!! M.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised if Jeopardy's ratings have gone up. Hey enlightenme, how are things with you? Have you had enough rain? M.
  6. This scripture tells us the difference between a god and the one true God:You people of Israel, listen to what the Lord has to say to you. The Lord says, “Do not learn to follow the religious practices of the nations. Do not be in awe of signs that occur in the sky even though the nations hold them in awe. For the religion of these people is worthless. For example, they cut down a tree in the forest. And a craftsman makes it into an idol with his tools. He decorates it with overlays of silver and gold. He uses hammer and nails to fasten it together so that it will not fall over. Such idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field. They cannot talk. They have to be carried because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them because they cannot hurt you. And they don’t have any power to help you, either.” I said, “There is no one like you, Lord. You are great. And you are well-known for your power. Everyone should revere you, O King of all nations. That is because you deserve to be revered. For neither among all the wise people of the nations nor among all their kings is there anyone that is like you. The people of those nations are both stupid and foolish. What they learn from those worthless idols is no better than the wood those idols are made of! Hammered-out silver is brought from Tarshish and gold is brought from Uphaz to cover those idols. They are the handiwork of carpenters and goldsmiths. They are clothed in blue and purple clothes. They are all made by skillful workers. The Lord is the only true God. He is the living God and the everlasting King. When he shows his anger the earth shakes. None of the nations can stand up to his fury. (You people of Israel should tell those nations this: ‘These gods did not make heaven and earth. And they will disappear from the earth and from under the heavens.’) The Lord is the one who by his power made the earth. He is the one who by his wisdom fixed the world in place. And by his understanding he spread out the heavens. When his voice thunders, the waters in the heavens roar. He makes the clouds rise from the far-off horizons. He makes the lightning flash out in the midst of the rain. He unleashes the wind from the places where he stores it. All these idolaters will prove to be stupid and ignorant. Every goldsmith will be disgraced by the idol he made. For the image he forges is merely a sham. There is no breath in any of those idols. They are worthless, objects to be made fun of. When the time comes to punish them, they will be destroyed. The Lord, who is the portion of Jacob’s descendants, is not like them. He is the one who created everything. And the people of Israel are those he claims as his own. He is known as the Lord who rules over all.” (Jeremiah 10:1-16) (NET bible translation) M.

  9. It did so! And the fact that you're going on about asking the question, instead of actually interested in the answer, gives credence to me that you're just plain suspicious and would prefer to argue than get information. You could have easily just googled Stem Cell Umbilical cord research and been well informed without the tantrum.M.
  10. Because your question Cal made it sound like Faerie didn't know what she was talking about. You didn't ask if she could provide you with a link or book to Stem Cell Umbilical cord research - your question inferred she was talking out of her *****.M.
  11. Yes! The movie should be buried in the nearest cemetary.... ....NO--throw that film in the garbage-- Wow...sarcastic exaggeration...whatever turns you on. IMO, the big screen is best for special effects or cinematic epic films. I'm not saying a person can't or shouldn't go out and watch a documentary or an "American Pie" type film on the big screen - but why bother when you can see them just as well on video/DVD. M.
  12. In Season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the episode called The Wish; both Giles and Oz are known as white hats. So I would say that anyone who fights against the Master and his cohorts are white hats. M.
  13. There are certain movies that should be seen on the big screen, this is not one of them. M.
  14. Where's the anti-mormon source for this quote?M.
  15. dictionary.com provides this information:cherub plural cherubim, the name of certain symbolical figures frequently mentioned in Scripture. They are first mentioned in connection with the expulsion of our first parents from Eden (Gen. 3:24). There is no intimation given of their shape or form. They are next mentioned when Moses was commanded to provide furniture for the tabernacle (Ex. 25:17-20; 26:1, 31). God promised to commune with Moses "from between the cherubim" (25:22). This expression was afterwards used to denote the Divine abode and presence (Num. 7:89; 1 Sam. 4:4; Isa. 37:16; Ps. 80:1; 99:1). In Ezekiel's vision (10:1-20) they appear as living creatures supporting the throne of God. From Ezekiel's description of them (1;10; 41:18, 19), they appear to have been compound figures, unlike any real object in nature; artificial images possessing the features and properties of several animals. Two cherubim were placed on the mercy-seat of the ark; two of colossal size overshadowed it in Solomon's temple. Ezekiel (1:4-14) speaks of four; and this number of "living creatures" is mentioned in Rev. 4:6. Those on the ark are called the "cherubim of glory" (Heb. 9:5), i.e., of the Shechinah, or cloud of glory, for on them the visible glory of God rested. They were placed one at each end of the mercy-seat, with wings stretched upward, and their faces "toward each other and toward the mercy-seat." They were anointed with holy oil, like the ark itself and the other sacred furniture. The cherubim were symbolical. They were intended to represent spiritual existences in immediate contact with Jehovah. Some have regarded them as symbolical of the chief ruling power by which God carries on his operations in providence (Ps. 18:10). Others interpret them as having reference to the redemption of men, and as symbolizing the great rulers or ministers of the church. Many other opinions have been held regarding them which need not be referred to here. On the whole, it seems to be most satisfactory to regard the interpretation of the symbol to be variable, as is the symbol itself. Their office was, (1) on the expulsion of our first parents from Eden, to prevent all access to the tree of life; and (2) to form the throne and chariot of Jehovah in his manifestation of himself on earth. He dwelleth between and sitteth on the cherubim (1 Sam. 4:4; Ps. 80:1; Ezek. 1:26, 28). Source: Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary M.
  16. Because it keeps our brains from turning to mush. :) M.
  17. Our situations are kinda similar Faerie. Before we had Buffy and Toley or our human kids our first cats were Nero and Meesha. I too had infertility problems and my cats were my therapy and substitute kids. The cats made the waiting and wondering so much easier.M.
  18. Proud cats owners must unite. :) I know how you feel Faerie, my family and I have 2 cats. Buffy is 2 years old and Ptolemy (Toley) is one and looks just like your Jinx (as a kitten). Toley was fuzzy when we got him and he still has that fuzz, it's just fuzzier. He was 2.5 lbs when we brought him home and now 1 year later he is 20 lbs - he is on a diet. I just love my cats, they are so funny, charming and very affectionate. M.
  19. punaboy - So you don't think Faerie's username or her signature gave you even a little clue?M.

  21. It is, is it? So tell us how many gods do you know that were once just human.M.
  22. Watch as all those years of sex education (including identifying gender) escapes right through punaboy's memory. Or did you not receive sex education growing up - or possibly prefer the male persuasion to have very feminine names. Even on the internet, I can't imagine a guy calling himself Faerie, especially a pregnant guy.M.
  23. Why do you think that it would bother antis? President Bush isn't pronouncing him Prophet of the World, just recognizing his good efforts and hard work.M.

Being a single unit, or entire being or thing, and no more; not multifold; single; individual. ---------------- Our main discussion Ray was regarding how we understand the Trinity. Personally I don’t believe that Traveler really understands the meaning of the Trinity. However he has that right, I just don’t agree with his meaning. And furthermore he also sees the godhead different than how I do. He’s sees multiple gods, I see one God. Traveler uses the word ehad and gives it the meaning of one and unity but also understands it as meaning plural or multiple. That is what I disagree with. I have found that ehad only means one or unity; and from the dictionary meaning above, those words seem to be synonymous with each other. Nowhere will you see that one or unity means multiple or plural. So what I will never agree to is Traveler’s extra meaning of ehad and his view of the godhead. He has not convinced me yet and I really doubt he could. I'm set in my ways. :) M.
  25. No need to apologize Traveler, you've been quite polite, a little crazy, but polite. I prefer to agree to disagree. I think no matter how we analyze information we will both come to different conclusions. I think you're attaching more meaning to the word ehad than is appropriate. So no matter how you wish to convince me that your understanding of the trinity and godhead is correct; I will never agree.M. PS - Maureen is a girl's name. :)
