  1. This is my understanding too. I view the changes as good, especially for future participants. The Initiatory work doesn't have to be such a surprise (possibly shock) - it can be something quite special and a lot more comfortable, IMO.M.
  2. SF, I'm not asking you discuss the specifics about the Temple, just curious about how members feel about the changes - that's all.M.
  3. It seems everyone's shy. I'll ask another question. It appears the changes are true so how do most people here feel about the changes? Are you happy with the changes? M.
  4. I haven't been around for sometime so this may have already been mentioned. I was visiting a different 'Mormon-type' site and the discussion there has been about the Initiatory changes (aka Washings & Anointings). Are the changes true and official? If so, then that makes me happy? The Initiatory part of Temple stuff was always confusing to me. From what I've read, it seems they have changed for the better. M.
  5. I believe it is our ProudDuck's birthday today because if I remember correctly he has the same birthday as my nephew. And if I also remember correctly he is a '71 baby, which would make him a very young 33 year old. If this is so then: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! M.
  6. You and Wittingham got married? Which state was that in? That's the first thing I thought when I read your sentence Snow. :) M.
  7. Ray, the article never said he left his church, it said he resigned from his calling as Church President. He more than likely is still a member of his church. Blessed explained the priesthood resignation.M.
  8. But Kevin, if you can't even hear the speaker because of the noise; how is focusing on what you can't hear going to help? M.
  9. I doubt that very much. I'm sure the non-Restorationist CofC are quite confident in their organization and where it is taking them.M.
  10. I'm going to answer this one through the mind of an LDSer or RLDSer; so don't get me wrong and assume I've flipped my lid. I would suppose the "church" did exactly the same thing it did before JS received these "keys" during the creation of the Mormon church. If the "church" could possibly survive a pending status for 1700 years I can't imagine that another 14-16 years is going to make it null and void. (Thinking this out as if I were one of them. ) M.
  11. I kinda remember you Sara. Boy, time goes by quickly - must be getting older.M.
  12. That could be true regarding how well men adjust to being singe compared to women. My FIL re-married less than 2 years after my MIL passed away. He had a hard time understanding how my Mom had no interest in re-marrying.M.
  13. There are people out there too though that are perfectly happy living without a companion after their spouse passes on. I think it would depend on the surviving spouse (age and circumstances of widow/er). My mom was quite happy to be on her own after my dad passed away, she was only 56 at the time; but she felt more comfortable not having to worry about another spouse.M.
  14. Sorry bat, I think you're wrong there. A better answer would be:Set (Seth, Setekh, Sut, Sutekh, Suty), an ancient Egyptian god; a god of chaos, confusion, storms, wind, the desert and foreign lands. It seems like a somewhat 'reasonable' answer. And don't bring Mother Nature into this, she's a little cocky and likes to take credit for practically every physical thing that happens on the earth - she's kind of arrogant if you ask me. Another 'logical' conclusion could be that 'nature imitates art'. If there are any Trekkies out there, they know what I'm talking about. Season 3 of 'Enterprise' had the aliens called the Xindi destroying Florida with a Probe-like weapon. I think someone or something out there in this vast universe is copying Star Trek. What else could it be? M.
  15. I agree he was not a kid but, to correct your math - JS was born Dec. 1805 so in 1827 he was really 21 going on 22. M.
  16. A very belated Birthday wish for you Marsha - on this grand milestone of a birthday!!! M.
  17. Yes, I was a fan of Angel. I enjoyed some of the episodes of its last season but it too did better earlier on. I guess it ran its time, just like Buffy.M.
  18. Now that may explain it. The difference between the tacky "American" wedding car decorations as compared to the sophisticated "Canadian" style of decorating a wedding car with flowers. Makes sense. M.
  19. On DVD? I don't know. What did you think of Season 6 bat? I really enjoyed the first 5 Seasons but it started to loose it's pizzazz during S6 and definitely in S7. What did you think of the musical? - I loved it.M.
  20. If this rule (decorating wedding cars) is so well known why didn't anyone say something. No one ever told us we weren't allowed to decorate the car while we waited. I'm pretty sure no one even knew it was against the rules.M
  21. Battlestar Galactica's creator is Glen. A Larson, who is a Mormon. http://www.proaxis.com/~sherlockfam/art5.html M.
  22. This is something I found at lds.org. It’s from 1971: “Young people in student wards and stakes should, as a general rule, be discouraged from going to the temple for their own endowments before marriage or a mission, and they should never go as a group to receive their own endowments.” “Policies and Procedures,” New Era, June 1971, 19 I also found this. I’m surprised by this one because when my friend got married 25 years ago at the Cardston Temple we did just that while we waited – we decorated the car in the temple parking lot. “… young people and their families should be told that there must be no rice thrown on or around the temple grounds. Furthermore, it should be made clear that it is improper to deface or decorate automobiles that are to be parked near the temple. Honking horns and dragging objects behind automobiles are also violations of good taste in the proximity of the temple. Such customs are not in keeping with the sacredness of the temple marriage ordinance.” M.
  23. Welcome Brendon. I think you'll fit in quite well since at least half the posters here are also not quite altogether. M.
  24. LFoDCP? Loyal Follower of Donut Custard Pastries? Or possibly: Loopy friend of Demented Crazy People? M.
  25. Hey butsam - I'm assuming you are referring to the above quote by lindy. I'm not sure but I don't believe she was reading your specific post as breaking down core beliefs of the LDS faith. I think lindy was speaking in general. I'm sure she'll let you know. Even though you may find some posters here that don't agree with you, it doesn' t mean you should leave. You've got to learn to grow a thicker skin. M.
