I came to this thread late and have only observed 14 of Outshined's posts in a row; which gives me the impression he's talking to himself. I don't think deleting JRodan's posts gives the thread a comprehensible quality, if you know what I mean.M.

Hate to burst your intention grabbing bubble Snow but, it's true. But I will remember next time when I read one of your posts to see what I can do about finding a rebuttal just to make you feel loved and wanted. M.

<span style='color:blue'>The church also assumes the closest living relative of the deceased being offered for proxy baptism has consented.Carol Skydell, also a researcher, said that didn't happen when her paternal grandparents and aunt and uncle apparently were given a baptism by proxy. She found their proxy baptism records in 2002. "Nobody asked me, nobody asked my cousin. It's ridiculous," Skydell said. I wonder Winnie if you may need to prove written consent from your step-father. M.

Thanks Nottingham. The first time I read that quote from Mr. Berle, I loved it - and since I do confess to being a mild-mannered trekkie, I've come to think the quote could be a kind of mantra for William Shatner. M.

I found this study:.... I'm not sure what point or rebuttal you are trying to make. No rebuttal at all. You mentioned the word 'fact' in your post, so I wanted to find my own facts regarding Utah's health which I did. The study just happened to mention the 'high suicide rate', which while visiting my SIL in Utah, happened to mention to me that it's been very strange for her, having personally known people that have just committed suicide so recently in a very short span of time. It could just be kizmit. I never said it was. I don't think I suggested any such thing. I just thought the timing of me finding that study and what my SIL mentioned was interesting. I agree. I believe that the lack of moderation (portion sizes) is the major culprit in obeseity for everyone who suffers from it, not just Mormons. I agree again. Yes, it is quite a cultural tradition. M.

I found this study:High Rate of Suicide Utah ranks 8th highest in the nation for the number of age-adjusted suicides. For many years, suicide rates have been significantly higher for the Western States than for the rest of the country. By order of rank, the top ten states are New Mexico, Montana, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska, Utah, West Virginia and Oklahoma. Several studies have positively linked suicide with certain demographic, social and environmental factors[3], but none of these factors correlate significantly with the data from the Western States. The cause of this phenomenon remains to be discovered. http://www.utahpriorities.net/briefs/rb9_h...healthcare.html The suicide rate I found interesting because while visiting my SIL and her family she commented to me that in the past 8 months she's known personally about 5 people that have committed suicide. She believes that mental health problems are definitely more prevalent now. M.

My kids, niece and husband have all seen ND; I have not but have come to the conclusion I must view it soon because I miss out on all the goofy recitals of "lines" from the movie that they all snicker about, ie Making one's self a damn quesidilla, emphasis on the "dilla" of course! Also, my family and I finally headed off on our very belated trip to the USofA the last week of March and the border guard let us in (hubby has proof of Canadian citizenship now). We drove down to Spanish Fork, Utah to visit family and in so doing drove past Preston, Idaho where they had filmed ND (a little trivia, for those trivia buffs). M.

I think this information should incline people to realize that borrowing from an already popular theme does not make someone a prophet.M.

Excellent questions Amillia. SF - If you had the chance to swap bodies with Terri, would you? If you believe her brain injury is treatable and if you could, would you take her place? It's easy to say Terri should keep living (if that's really what she is doing) because she is removed from all of us by not being us - she is the one going through this. We have no idea what her life is like, if you can call her ability to breathe, life. She has no quality of life, she's been like this for 15 years; if she keeps living what makes you think she won't spend another 15 years in this same vegetative state. Would you want to live that way? M.

It is still true today even with CPR. The main reason for using CPR is to see if you can bring someone back from the dead. M. Is that right? Can a person be pronounced dead just because she's code blue? If so, call me a miracle worker with a .500 batting average. Can I kill someone if I do CPR incorrectly? No. Remember the person in cardiac arrest is already clinically dead. CPR can only help. Even if it's not done "letter perfect" it will probably provide some benefit to the victim. http://depts.washington.edu/learncpr/askdo....html#I%20heard M.

Thanks! Are you an Enterprise fan Meridiani? This particular picture is from the episode Doctor's Orders. This is actually hallucination T'Pol. She is really a figment of Phlox's imagination. One of Enterprise's humourous episodes - I think so anyway.M.

PS-2: I have heard from a personal and reliable friend (in a diverse place) where the 3-hour block is being "shortened" by one hour, on a trial basis. (Guess which of the three meetings is being eliminated, there?) So, maybe your prayers have been answered already, ahead of time?!! <span style='color:blue'>President Hinckley on a “big announcement?” “I'm not gonna tell ya...I know somethin' but I'm not gonna tell ya about it...you'll have to hear it on your various television stations!" http://kutv.com/topstories/local_story_070183612.html Maybe this 'big announcement' is regarding changes to the 3 hour block. Has anyone here heard what this 'big announcement' is? M.

bat has a lot of 'personality' to offer this board. If bat gets carried away, we can always ignore him. M.

But he did join a church JS wouldn't recognize today. The LDS church today is quite different from what it was in JS's time.M.

That's just crazy, never heard of Christian Bale - what planet are you from? :)He starred in a surprisingly good film called Reign of Fire, and uttered one of my favorite lines: Only one thing worse than dragons and that's Americans. You should rent it sometime. M.

Japanese inventions!!!! You gotta be kidding, right???? I think Amillia is trying to confess to having a sense of humour after all. M.

I still say go for an unknown actor. Since my Enterprise is cancelled there's a bunch of actors from that cast who will be back in auditioning mode. I'm sure a few of you will not know who I'm talking about but I vote for Connor Trinneer to play JS. He has the range to do Star Trek and Shakespeare, and he definitely has the ability to exude charm and charisma in a character. So who's making this list to send to the casting person? M.
-
He should pick an unknown actor. M.

You really like that word endless, don't you Amillia.Endless - meaning: having no known beginning and presumably no end So in other words this Sean Hannity lies while he's sleeping and chances are when he's eating too, with all that food in his mouth. That's just plain rude. M.

I'm more curious as to which ancestor this Mike Kennedy is related to. If they were part of the RLDS, then it's probably one of JS's sons - which one? M. Editing to say the link's working now! :)

The links not working.M.

I was never a fan of Martha Stewart and still am not; but it will be interesting to see if prison has changed her for the good. M.

Amillia - I've noticed you make a lot of general statements without any substance to back it up. So for something more positive here's a chance for you to show me (or all the board) what those great works of JS's are. I am just curious as to what your opinion might be in regards to these great works. I have no intention of disagreeing with your opinion, I'm just wondering if you can actually add some substance to your general statement of great works. To help you out, some definitions of GREAT are: *Remarkable or outstanding in magnitude, degree, or extent: a great crisis. *Of outstanding significance or importance: a great work of art. *Powerful; influential: one of the great nations of the West *Eminent; distinguished: a great leader. Please and Thank you and Good Luck! M.
