  1. It's been pretty busy here in rainy Alberta, Canada. My nephew got married last Saturday (the 11th) and I got a cold/flu the week before and gave it to almost all my family - so we've been keeping busy and sick here. Have family staying with us until Wednesday. The wedding the very nice. Good weather for most of the day, rained lightly in the evening (good luck for the couple). The couple were married in the Edmonton Temple in the morning. At 2pm we had a family lunch in one of the LDS church buildings (lots of people). Then at 7:30pm there was a lovely ring ceremony in the chapel at a Stake Centre and then a very casual reception afterwards. I commented to my friend (mother of the groom) that the ring ceremony was so nice especially for us non-Mormons. The Bishop gave a lovely and humourous talk regarding the couple. It is nice that the LDS church is being gracious to also consider non-Members of LDS families when it comes to wedding get-togethers. It makes it so much more of a family connected event, which is always welcoming and thoughtful. The bride and groom both have a Scotish family heritage, so their wedding was Scotish themed. The bridal party wore kilts, except the bride; she wore a wedding dress with a Tartan sash - not only did the couple exchange rings but they also had the traditional pinning of the Tartan sash to the bride. The procession and recession music for the ring ceremony was with Scotish music. The couple left the Chapel and entered the gymnasium to a piper playing very familiar bagpipe music - it was very nice. Another Scotish tradition the couple did was to kiss over the wedding cake before the traditional cutting of the cake. And at the lunch the groom read the Robbie Burns' poem "My love is like a Red Red Rose." to the bride. The bride growing up was involved with musicals and band activities and the fella who sang at the lunch and reception also knew the bride from doing musicals together. He was a one man band and he was good, he even took requests and provided a very wide range of musical enjoyment for everyone. The wedding had it's gliches (which makes it that much more memorable :) ) but over all it was a very lovely wedding. And that's why I haven't been around lately. M.
  2. It's not - it's a lovely age!Happy Birthday Jason!!! M.
  3. It's all relative. To someone like my daughter who is 17, you, Erin and Kevin are indeed old but to someone like myself who's "been there and done that", you're still spring chickens.Happy Birthday Erin and Kevin and pre-happy B-day Jason!!! M.
  4. Exactly. My in-laws have a Horse, and plenty of Hay. When they visited me on their Horse, the Horse was hungry. I did not need a "ride", but I fed the horse my Grass, so my in-laws could enjoy a better ride home. But the Horse ate all my Grass, and now I don't have a lawn. I can grow more Grass, so I can continue to feed my in-law's horse when they visit. But now I chose to put a fence up around my Grass, and just feed the Horse small portions. After all, its not my Horse. I think you explained your metaphor quite well Taoist. I loved reading it so much that I had to quote it!M.
  5. Isn't there a distinct difference between a chat line and a message board?M.
  6. My username is my real name. At the time I joined I wasn't creative enough to come up with a different name. On trekbbs.com and some other boards I go by 'meesha' - who used to be my cat but she has moved on to a lovely life frolicking in kitty heaven with all the other family kitties that have passed on. M.
  7. Sorry but I don't consider smart-alecky responses as answers. For example one of the first questions I asked you was this: So explain to me Amillia why you think these authors are 'anti'? You came up with this: Why do I think these authors are anti? LOL well I have read their stuff and it certainly isn't pro. That is about as far into detail you would go - what kind of an anwer is that? And that's been your style from the get-go. M.
  8. But MH didn't play a Vulcan she just fooled around with a Vulcan. M. I won't be questioned or second guessed. If I say that she was a Vulcan then she was a Vulcan, regardless of the facts. Who would she be, if not a Vulcan, if she was on pre-historic Vulcan prior to space flight??? The episode is called All Our Yesterdays - a synopsis: <span style='color:blue'>The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise investigate the planet Sarpeidon whose sun is soon to go nova. Upon beaming to the surface, Kirk, Spock, and McCoy discover the inhabitants gone and a library containing the planet's accumulated knowledge. Kirk, Spock and McCoy are surprised to find a lone inhabitant on the surface, Mr. Atoz, the librarian, who mistakes them for citizens of Sarpeidon. Mr. Atoz has been transferring people into the planet's past using a machine called the "atavachron." While investigating this unique technology, Kirk leaps to rescue a woman he hears screaming and ends transported to a period fraught with superstitions and witchcraft. Attempting to follow Kirk, Spock and McCoy enter the atavachron's portal to find themselves in a different time — Sarpeidon's ice age. McCoy, who is close to freezing to death, and Spock are rescued by a beautiful woman, Zarabeth. While close to the portals they entered from, Kirk, Spock and McCoy can communicate with each other but little more. However, this is enough to get Kirk arrested for practicing witchcraft. Spock increasingly finds himself attracted to Zarabeth, and disturbingly more emotional and irrational, and even goes against Vulcan custom by eating meat. McCoy convinces Spock that this time in Sarpeidon's past is linked to Vulcan's primitive past and that they must return to their own time. Zarabeth insists they cannot return to the present without dying. In jail, Kirk is befriended by a lawyer, another traveler of Sarpeidon's present, who helps him escape to find the portal, and return to the library. Zarabeth helps McCoy and Spock to the place where she found them. By following the sound of Kirk's voice, they find their portal and leap back into the library. Mr. Atoz leaps to his own designated past and the Enterprise, with Kirk, Spock, and McCoy safely aboard, warps from orbit just as the sun explodes. If I remember correctly Zarabeth was in that place as a punishment for some offense - to be cold and alone forever. M.
  9. Why not? And why are you on an LDS site challenging LDS visitors? You should be banned! Amillia - It was just a question. Maybe you should see a doctor about that persecution complex that you seem to be afflicted with. M.
  10. I was wondering the same thing, but to each his own.I did find this: http://www.israelrevealed.com/bom.htm M.
  11. I guess it depends if you're a fanatical or easy-going trekkie. The easy-going trekkie is well grounded in real life. They enjoy the 42 minutes of escapism plus the real world that includes family, friends, work, fun - and of course a little internet. Now the fanatical trekkie is something else entirely. Star Trek is a religion - they own merchandise, read ST books and memorize every line ever spoken in most series. Their greatest goals are attending conventions, dreaming about their favorite characters and arguing with easy-going trekkies on ST message boards. They are a sad lot, but I know there is always hope for them. M.

  13. That's interesting you would say that because the startrek message board I post at, has fans that were willing to give Enterprise a good enough try after S1 but started to drift off after half of S2. I, myself prefer S2 than S1. IMO I found T'Pol extremely Vulcanish in S1 and S2 and in S3 the writers decided to experiment with her emotions, which I found kind of interesting (even though the actress herself had trouble with the concept). In S4 T'Pol is indeed Vulcan but as we've gotten to know her she has shown that she definitely has her own unique personality - she is not Spock and no one should expect her to be anyone other than herself.M.
  14. Are you referring to T'Pol in last Friday's episode (the Mirror Universe T'Pol) or the regular T'Pol in 22nd century regular universe?MU characters tend to live darker lives, more aggressive, more paranoid, more sexual. Therefore the attire fits the society. When it comes to 22nd century Vulcans in the regular universe all we can go by is Enterprise canon. If the Vulcans find their attire functional, even T'Pol's attire (which has evolved during these four seasons) who are we to argue about it. M.
  15. This is true - but not too thin! Many trek fans believe she has toned down on the nude modeling photos since she got married about 2 years ago.M.
  16. LOL! I believe you pushka - there are some very scary, fanatical trekkies out there. I can see how your experience would cause this kind of reaction towards a crazy TV show like Star Trek. M.
  17. The 7-of-9 wannabe? She's definitely no wannabe. She's got her loyal fans and her first visit to the GrandSlam SciFi convention in March proved that she's well loved by Trekkies of all shapes and sizes. M.
  18. Snow, regarding the lighting - it could just be your TV set. I've noticed a difference in viewing the show between 2 of my TV sets. Jolene Blalock plays T'Pol the Vulcan. Season 4 has been well accepted by many ardent fans and I've enjoyed this season as well but I have one particular pet peeve. From the ending of S3 to the start of S4 it was very obvious that this particular actress had lost some weight - which irked me to no end. She's suppose to play a very logical person - un-necessary weight loss does not seem logical to me. I have no idea what caused the weight loss in the actress' life but was hoping she would gain it back quickly. IMO, she's still got a few more pounds to go and then her face will fill out and her ripe pomegranate lips will look less ripe. She really does look better with a little more weight under her belt. M.
  19. Hi Winnie,No, I'm not really a SG1 fan. I've watched some episodes but just couldn't get interested in it. Though I've read that Ben Browder and Claudia Black, originally from Farscape are joining the cast for Season 9. That might get me a little interested. I'm not sure if I'm interested in Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy yet. Since Enterprise will be gone soon, my scifi interests will focus towards BSG. M.
  20. The forums seem slow and I’m kinda bored with the existing threads so, I’m alerting ya’ll to some fun. If you’re familiar with Star Trek (the original series) TOS, you’ve probably seen the episode called Mirror, Mirror where Kirk, McCoy, Scotty and Uhura are accidentally transported into an alternate universe (an evil universe). Well tonight’s episode on Enterprise is paying homage to TOS’s Mirror, Mirror with a similar episode called In a Mirror, Darkly– where we meet the evil counterparts to Enterprise’s crew in this alternative universe. It should be a fun episode if some of you have nothing planned (like the required date night – just kidding). Although I hear that that evil Network UPN likes to pre-empt shows in some areas – I hope it’s not yours. M.
  21. A statement from the 1st Presidency of the LDS church: LDS Statement on Pope In a statement issued Tuesday, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said: "We join with men and women of goodwill everywhere in congratulating Cardinal Ratzinger on his election as Pope Benedict XVI. "We wish for him and his many followers continuing progress in furthering the cause of peace among the nations, and the alleviation of poverty and distress throughout the world." http://www.sltrib.com/ci_2669801 M.
  22. That is pure BS! The bible isn't even considered valid scripture by many sects. Are you referring to Christian sects? If so, name one that doesn't consider the Bible as scripture.M.
  23. From:Electing a new pope: FAQs Q: What are the factors likely to influence the voting? A: Officially, the church says only the Holy Spirit will influence the results. But church watchers say a new pope will win based on several criteria: age, nationality, life experience, personality, and positions on major issues facing the church. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/pope/ele...ting_qanda.html M.
