  1. I have never been into those maternity garments. Let me tell you, from a mother of four children. I have found that the garment top that has no seams is the best. You bring down the top (which does not permantly stretch) and feed baby. It has been the best. Hope that helps
  2. Go and pray about it and go to the temple (that is if you are a church member??). The temple teachings clearly teaches to me who is the Godhead. Those who don't research much in this life about the Godhead are going to be very surprised in the next life as to who it is. As for Christ, he was the second member of the Godhead in the pre-mortal existence, this does not mean he was exalted, else why come to earth a second time and die a second time, that would not make sense. He was a member of the Godhead without having an exalted body.
  3. Back to the question if Missionaries lie, I'm sure there are some that do (they are imperfect creatures), but on the whole I don't believe that missionaries would purposefully lie to someone. They may have a firm belief in what they have told you, although they cannot back it up, but have been told the story themselves (you know chinese whispers).
  4. Yes the plan is wonderful, but if one tried to get their heads around how everythig affects everything, then one would be so overwhelmed and distracted from the simpleness of the plan and therefore forget what they are doing and fall. The plan is simple simple simple.
  5. Hi Jime, what part of the sermons quote are you wanting to question? There is alot there :) Generally, though, in our church there is straight church doctrine and then there is speculation. Even apostles and prophets can say things that are pure speculation, even educated speculation. This is in the clasification of speculation, even though spoken by the prophet. Another good question to ask ones self when sifting through lots of information is.. "does this have anythign to do with my salvation?" The answer this time is definately no. Whether there is inhabitants on celetial bodies in our universe doesn't matter to the choices and promise we need to make to come close and become like God (according to the teachings of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). I hope this may help
  6. //I am ready to blow a gasket I'm so mad.// Solution.... punch your wife in the teeth.... Just kidding!!! What I meant to say is... Good luck. 20 year old's should be earning their own money I say, and mother's should have facilitated that ideal long before 20 yrs old. I'm just a mother talking, in general, since this is parenting advice and all. No digs meant.... except for the back flip of the teeth one :)
  7. //I have nothing against spandex; wear it all you want. My point was, that it is not necessarily more modest!// LOL Truegrits.... No I just think maybe I didn't explain myself clearly enough... maybe, and you misunderstood what I was saying. To sum it all up.... 1. 2 piece is better than none 2. something that covers your whole body parts that should be covered is better than 2 piece 3. shirts and shorts are fine if you don't need to go swimming in a race or snorkling etc 4. spandex one piece covering to knees and shoulders (as opposed to the one piece that the first person said gives you wedgies etc) is best if you are racing etc etc.... Another funny thing about bathers.... My mother when I was growing up grossed me out. She had no idea about covering her body when she was swimming. She would buy a normal one piece with the silly little too-too skirt that covered squat and think that it was modest (she is American size like 24-26 I think). Meanwhile her chest was hanging out, and her thighs were hanging out, and lets not talk about the rest of the jelly. She is retirement age now and I still have not convinced her that that toto skirt thing covers squat...LOL. I hope that clears your confusion...LOL
  8. //Your mother-in-law sounds an awful lot like mine. Really the only way we look alike is that we are both blonde and blue eyed, although i'm not as blonde as i used to be after having 4 kids. // Tee hee hee!!! Yes, four children will do that won't it :)
  9. I have a theory about members who have "issues" with certain doctrines/points/principles of the church so much so that they are considering their membership. And it is an issue that no matter how much you try and resolve and explain to them, that they will not accept or pray about. And the theory is this. The issue that they are arguing has nothing to do with the real reason why they are considering their membership, it is just a facade and coverup for the real reason.
  10. I tend to agree with Connerific on this one about the type of person you choose (not about looks yet, I'll discuss that as well). My husband chose someone (me) who was totally opposite to his mother who is a man hater, martyr, lazy, disobedient wife (I could go on but I won't). Funnily enough, my mother is that same type of person, and I chose very early on in my childhood that I would not emulate my mother as it just wasn't working for her (being depressed and sad and had two failed marriages). So yes, it goes both ways I think, you choose someone totally like your parent (1. if they are awsome and you want someone just the same, or 2. because you have not been enlightened and you are blinded to your decisions because you have not been taught agency and you make the same mistakes as your parents in choices etc), or you choose someone who is totally opposite or very very different to your parent because you are enlightened and see that it ain't workin for them. And, you also make choices in your life to emulate your same sex parent, or be totally different to them. Now for looks. I have a different theory altogether on this one. As some have said before, how they make the observation that some couples look so much alike they could look like siblings etc. Here is my theory.... and I'll build up the theory with what I understand to be true. 1. We are all Heavenly Father's children = we all have his likeness 2. From going to the temple I have come to the understanding that we had some part to play in our own creation (as well as the creation of this earth). 3. Adam and Eve are the first parents of all of us 4. Eve was created from the rib of Adam... (I think that is very signifcant) So from those pieces of information, I believe that inside of us is the seed of life and ALL genes possible to man. I believe that humans have not come to that realisation because we also have the power to manifest what (because of our sub-conscious/spiritual powers) genes we see fit to manifest. Hence when a couple become one spiritually, they also start to physically show those signs as well, because they want to be one, and the same in image etc. What do you all think of that? So going on from that. I chose a husband who looks absolutley nothing like my father. And he chose someone who looked absolutley nothing like his mother, except we both chose each other because we were tall (I'm sure most tall women would understand my notion of wanting to find a taller man :) ). So, we have been married for 10 years, and although we didn't look that much alike when we were first sealed, nowadays, people are saying left right and centre how much we look alike. Very interesting.
  11. For obvious reasons Truegrits, one who is swimming does not want to be weighed down and held back by free flowing material. So there has to be a compromise about what is warn. Plus if I were sitting in a hot tub as the original post was talking about, if you wore a free flowing thing, it would be going everywhere and not covering very much either. As swimming is a sport and especially in competition, there has to be compromise on what one can do to be moddest, hence spandex. At least the skin is covered, as opposed to a swim suite. For instance, when I am swimming in the sea, I just wear the spandex stuff. but if I am in the home pool, I wear the spandex plus a shirt. I usually always wear shorts that are fast drying (as it is light and doesnt' really hold you back when swimming).
  12. 1. I don't understand church members and 2 piece suits 2. I don't understand church members who want to show their bodies off with one pieces. 3. I have always worn shorts and shirts when I was a kids, then when I became older they made swimming pieces that cover garments (made from spandex I think you people call it in the USA, the swim suit material). I see no problem with covering my whole body when swimming. We especially need to cover the whole body if we want to go swimming with stingers on our Great Barrier Reef.
  13. One point mus be made Bagatov. In our religion we believe in keeping the law of chastity and part of that law as explained in the temple (where our Spiritual sealing/marriage is officiated) that to keep this law we are only to have sexual relations with our spouse to whom we are legally (government) and lawfully (spiritually by God) wed. So in being sealed in our temples (if the marriages must be performed seperately (government/spiritual), then we are agreeing to go and be married civily as well. I hope that makes sense. Else we are breaking the law of chastity.
  14. The whole point of our existence is to become like God, this is the essence of the teachings of the church and the plan of Salvation. But, this concept like all doctrine can only be understood and accepted through personal testimony by the Holy Ghost. I think where peoples' concept of being like God gets construed is in mixing "Man's" philosophy of who or what they envisage God to be, with who our God actually is and the nature of "exaltation" (of which of course I have only one clue). And the nature of Godhood that we can understand is that exaltation is in a FAMILY context. Husband and Wife exalted together and creating spiritual bodies for their children for their eternal family. This is the purpose and nature of Godhood, not just sitting around with people/angels worshipping and singing praises. I think if one reads D&C: 132 especially verse 19 and pray about it, the Holy Ghost can teach them about "eternal lives" and what it means.
  15. Moses: 5 1 And it came to pass that after I, the Lord God, had driven them out, that Adam began to till the earth, and to have adominion over all the beasts of the field, and to eat his bread by the sweat of his brow, as I the Lord had commanded him. And Eve, also, his wife, did clabor with him. 2 And aAdam knew his wife, and she bare unto him bsons and daughters, and they began to multiply and to replenish the earth. 3 And from that time forth, the sons and daughters of Adam began to divide two and two in the land, and to till the land, and to tend flocks, and they also begat sons and daughters. 4 And Adam and Eve, his wife, called upon the name of the Lord, and they heard the voice of the Lord from the way toward the Garden of Eden, speaking unto them, and they saw him not; for they were shut out from his presence. 5 And he gave unto them commandments, that they should worship the Lord their God, and should offer the firstlings of their flocks, for an offering unto the Lord. And Adam was obedient unto the commandments of the Lord. 6 And after many days an angel of the Lord appeared unto Adam, saying: Why dost thou offer sacrifices unto the Lord? And Adam said unto him: I know not, save the Lord commanded me. 7 And then the angel spake, saying: This thing is a similitude of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten of the Father, which is full of grace and truth. 8 Wherefore, thou shalt do all that thou doest in the name of the Son, and thou shalt repent and call upon God in the name of the Son forevermore. 9 And in that day the Holy Ghost fell upon Adam, which beareth record of the Father and the Son, saying: I am the Only Begotten of the Father from the beginning, henceforth and forever, that as thou hast fallen thou mayest be redeemed, and all mankind, even as many as will. and another one.... 17 Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye may begin to exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you; 18 Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is amighty to save. 19 Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him. 20 Cry unto him when ye are in your fields, yea, over all your flocks. 21 Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening. 22 Yea, cry unto him against the power of your enemies. 23 Yea, cry unto him against the devil, who is an enemy to all righteousness. 24 Cry unto him over the crops of your fields, that ye may prosper in them. 25 Cry over the flocks of your fields, that they may increase. 26 But this is not all; ye must apour out your souls in your closets, and your secret places, and in your wilderness. 27 Yea, and when you do not cry unto the Lord, let your hearts be bfull, drawn out in prayer unto him continually for your welfare, and also for the welfare of those who are around you. 28 And now behold, my beloved brethren, I say unto you, do not suppose that this is all; for after ye have done all these things, if ye turn away the needy, and the naked, and visit not the sick and afflicted, and impart of your substance, if ye have, to those who stand in need—I say unto you, if ye do not any of these things, behold, your prayer is vain, and availeth you nothing, and ye are as hypocrites who do deny the faith. To worship is to emulate and copy. If our ultimate goal in this life is to become as the Savior, then our every action should be to that end. So from these two scriptures and many more I am sure, we can understand that living God's law (through partaking of his covenant) and repenting continually is worshipping him. I for one know that even when I am washing the clothes and doing the ironing (which equates to making my home a heaven on earth) is in very deed worshipping the almighty.
