I can start this thread. I can say "thanks" and comment on most threads. I tried to say "thanks" over and over on "A great Apostasy and was denied access. Joseph was only trying to make a point to offset the thinking of the day. This is not scripture and I know you say he was speaking as Prophet, Seer and Revealator and all that, but you notice one thing? It did not end up in the PofGP. did it? The Doctrine is true. I have to admit thatit is true. Jesus was NEVER a mere man as you and I. Jesus was the Son of God. Born of a woman but the Son of God. Only that truth made it possible for Him to overcome all that He had to take upon Himself and get through and over it. You and I could NEVER have fit the bill. I must also add at this point that Jesus only did that which He knew His Father had done. Soooo, it follows that His Father never was only mere man Himself. We are His children. What Kind of Being Is God? Because we are made in his image (see Moses 6:9), we know that God has a body that looks like ours. His eternal spirit is housed in a tangible body of flesh and bones (see D&C 130:22). God’s body, however, is perfected and glorified, with a glory beyond all description. Sometimes subtle things get past us. No problem, we just get in a hurry sometimes and we do not diligently study. By all means that really includes me;-( But for God to be perfected and for Him to have been glorified, He would first have to be not "perfected" nor full of "glory". It is a hard thing for us to swallow, us who have been raised up with man's interpretation of the Scripture but. . . Bro. Rudick

It is true that it is possible for some "to walk in the noonday sun, and declare that the sun does not shine." The Holy Ghost can bare witness to us and we are very impressed by the power of the witness. If we do not feed this testimony of the truth, our memory of the witness wains. This is true. Weather it be Joseph Smith Brigham Young or whom ever. I have sen many a "person" get messed up (myself included) by standing on a quote of a general authority. Most of the time they are "right on". But sometimes they can lead us a little off. For sound Doctrine, stick with the Standard Works of the Church. When God sees fit, He will include the statements of what ever General Authority He wishes to include into Scripture. When Anti Mormon types come at me any more I just first as "Book, Chapter and verse please." and go from there. Bro. Rudick;-)

No fingers are pointed here. Not a fan of Bush either by the way. He did keep the nation afloat through some very difficult and interesting times though. But he spent wayyy over what he needed to and expanded government way beyond what I believe was necessary to do the job. Yet, I don't want to pick on any one person here. Just want to point out that it was the congress that demanded that easy loans be made to those who could least afford to pay the loans back. Fanny and Freddy for instance. When some wanted to investigate them back a few years ago, Nancy, Barny, and company insisted they were in great shape and had no need of investigation. It was the Congress of late, under George and Nancy that plunged us into oblivion. I expected it from Nancy and company but was very, very upset at George. Should not have been too surprised though. I hate to beat up on people but like you I have to vent a little. "thanks to bushs tax cuts to the corporations." Yeah, he did encourage the senate Republicans to vote for that thing as did McCain. Sheesh;-( Thanks to the brave few Republicans who stood against it. Yet because the other side ruled the Congress there was no way it could fail yet they wanted to have a few Republicans to have their fingerprints on it. And they did. Many of the most prominent. I prayed that when McCain said he was quitting for the moment and going to Washington, he was going to tell his fellow Republicans to vote against it even though it had no chance of not getting through. Yet, he asked his fellow Republicans to vote for it:-( Now government is on a feeding frenzy that I see nowhere it will end. How will we pay for it? There is not enough of the "filthy rich" in the world to pay for it. We are begging China to help us out again. If they refuse do we print our way out? That will tax the poor into oblivion! Agreed. Once the Fair Tax is in place every American will know what is spent and how much is coming out of their pocket. They then will be motivated to force government to cut wasteful spending and growing bureaucracies. We have to turn this ship around. We have come to the place where in the eyes of many in government we own nothing. Not even our God given rights. We work and work and not even the fruits of our labors is considered ours. When the government allows you to keep more of the fruit of your labors, it is considered - "spending". Now "what's up with that?" In a perfect world that would be the answer. Each state have a version of the "Fair Tax" to run each individual state in the manor that that state wishes to be. We still have the Government headquartered in DC (which now is using the new congress to get statehood for this city and now may be able to circumvent the Constitution to get it) that needs funds to run interstate relations and protect our borders. The Fair Tax can be used for that also. Don't let anyone fool you about this tax. The overall price will not increase by the amount of the tax as opponents say. Once it is set in motion all embedded taxes will be eliminated. This will reduce the price of the products almost to the amount that what ever the Fair Tax may be calculated to be will amount to. Support the Fair Tax;-)
