That's so true! I was thinking he was referring more to the actual process of what the church would have you do before getting baptised again.

Just keep hanging on to your faith in Christ! Remember, he says that he will never leave nor forsake you!:) I only hope and pray that this can be resolved without having to go through ex-communication. I've heard where this has actually turned some truly repentant people bitter afterwards. IMHO, I don't think the Lord would want something like that to happen. But regardless of what happens, don't ever break your love and trust in your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He can be your best friend in times like these.:) Best of luck and will be praying for you.

Trust me, you and PC aren't the only ones who wished there were days when the sacrament meeting was "spiced-up" just a little bit. LOL

Are there contradictions in the Mormon writings?

They may have. Then again, they may not have. How do you know? -
Are there contradictions in the Mormon writings?
Carl62 replied to aj4u's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
My character is sincere in that I don't have any motives! The only thing I may be "guilty" of is trying to get rid of somebody whose ONLY motive here is to tear our church down! AND YES, I DON'T CARE HOW YOU TRY TO SPIN IT, YOU KNOW THAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL!!! When you start trying to tear us down by quoting anti-mormon garbage like "The Godmakers", I know where this is going, and FAST. Oh, and since your now quoting scripture on me to say that God will not dwell in a Temple made of bare hands, then how do you explain Jesus's love and passion for the Temple in Jerusalem when he overturned the tables of the moneychangers and drove the merchants out. Mark 11:17 says that He told them "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer?' but ye have made it a den of thieves." I have nothing against you personally AJ because to be quite frank, I don't know you other than the past two threads. But all I know is from what I've read and the tone from a lot of your posts and threads have yes, been very negative. Just look at the titles of the two past threads you've started: "Does LDS doctrine clash with the Bible?" and "Are there contradictions in the Mormon writings?" I mean, come on! Who's the one being negative again? Huh? Who? I can assure you and anybody who knows me knows that I am not a negative person. When it comes to talking about Jesus Christ and His gospel, I will be more than glad to talk to ANYONE for however long they want. It's a suject I never get tired of.:) But when I slowly sense that somebody is coming along like a sheep in wolves clothing to slowly erode away at something I dearly love like the gospel, the only response I can give is the very same one that Jesus unfortunately even had to tell his beloved disciple Peter, "Get thee behind me Satan". Mark 8:33 -
Hmm, I know of people who've been ex-communicated for adultery and the church makes that very clear, but in my 30+ years of being in the church I've never heard of anybody being ex'd for looking at pornography and that only. I know people who've just been disfellowshipped for waaaay worse than that. Maybe you know something on that that I don't. That's news to me.

Wow! Where did he say anything that would be on the same level as committing adultery?! I think a better analogy would be more like the wife saying "You can look at your Playboys, but if you dare cheat on me, I WILL pull a Loraine Bobbit on you!!!. And while you may argue that this is committing mental adultery (and it is), as long as the husband is not stepping outside of the marriage bond then they might be o.k. with that. Actually, if you talk to a wife whose husband is out cheating on a regular basis, they'd probably give their right arm if all he was doing was looking at Playboys.

Are there contradictions in the Mormon writings?

Pam, it just seems like AJ likes to slant things in a way that seemingly makes LDS look bad. The reason I gave the example earlier to him about "so you think Jesus is JUST a prophet" was to give him a slight taste of his own medicine in the same way that anti's CONSTANTLY give to us. All they are about is tearing down, not building up. Personally, I think this guy is a complete waste of time. IMHO, if he hasn't gotten it by now, I honestly don't think he ever will because he will not come out from behind his own wall and allow himself to think just a little outside of his own box. -

Are there contradictions in the Mormon writings?
Carl62 replied to aj4u's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Ztodd, I honestly believe that Pam and/or John would have not closed that thread if he'd just listen to reason and try to make an attempt to understand where we were coming from biblically, but he wouldn't. He did a number of 'hit-n-runs' where he'd ask questions, then we'd answer them. But then when we in turn would respond with a question of our own, he would either answer your question with another question, dodge them completely or give some incoherent answer which you'd have to read over 3 or more times before you'd even remotely understand it (the "Jesus is God and God is Jesus but they're not the same" type answers:confused:). So with the way this thread is already starting out, this isn't going to be just the sequel. This is gonna be the same exact play all over again only with a new title and a few new "actors" (but the lead character is still the same:D). -

Are there contradictions in the Mormon writings?

But then you say he's on here wanting to learn more truth and that he's receptive? Got it! -

Again, if you go back and read "Does LDS doctrine clash with the Bible?", you'll see why I said that. Not meaning to be disrespectful, I was just giving him a teeeny sample of the same kind of logic that he's been using on us for 40+ pages of the other thread. After awhile, yes it does get a bit annoying. Again, before judging others on their responses towards him and saying how he's so open for new truth and so receptive, please go back and read the previous thread. Thanks. -
How do you know those 3 "Terrestrials" might not have gone to a "Telestial" life, even without the church? At least we tried and did our part. That's all God asks for us to do. Plus, 2 did get upgraded to the "Celestial" level which they never would have had without the church. So all and all, I still think it worked out for the good. I guess I just prefer to look at life with the glass 'half full'.:)

Are there contradictions in the Mormon writings?
Carl62 replied to aj4u's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Wow! So for you, Jesus is just a living prophet? Isn't this the way Muslims also regard Jesus, as just a prophet? For me, Jesus happens to be the one who died on the cross for my sins and arose the third day so that I may have eternal life in Him, along with my Heavenly Father! Are you REALLY sure you know Jesus? I know I do!:) -

AJ, when you come on here with your negative, condescending, and antagonistic attitude towards our church asking "how do we handle contradictions in the Mormon church?" automatically assuming that we have any, then yes, I WILL stand in defense of my church because I already know from reading your previous posts where this thread is gonna go! So as far as the Merry-go-Round is concerned, I'm on this 'til the absolute very end. Let's start the ride!
