  1. How old are you? 18. How long have you been associated to the Mormon Faith? 18 years (born into it). Were you ever affiliated with any other type of Faith? No. Will you describe your understanding of Creation? First there was a spiritual creation, followed by the physical creation. How this was accomplished, I have yet to decide. It was most certainly by the power of God (specifically Jesus Christ), but as to the specifics, I'm open to many scientific theories. How would you describe the character of God? Kind and loving. His only wish is for us, His children, to return to Him. What do you believe about Jesus Christ? That he is Jehova, the only begotten Son of our Father in Heaven. He was a living example for us, and through his Atonement we may all be saved. What are your hopes for eternity? That families are indeed forever. That everyone will indeed be resurrected into perfected bodies. And finally, that I may stand blameless before God at the judgment seat, having taken full advantage of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and having lived my life in a way reflective of the life of Christ. Who was Joseph Smith and what role does he play in your understanding of Scripture? Joseph Smith, Jr. was the Prophet of the Restoration. He was called by God to restore His true church to the Earth. His role in scriptures is one I am truly grateful for. His revelations have spared me the confusion of doctrine that has become so apparent in today's world. He has also helped me understand that when moved upon by the Holy Ghost, a man's words and thoughts are as good as those written within the sacred texts. What do you believe about the Bible? Is it on the same plain with the Book of Mormon? I believe that the majority of it is inspired, and is indeed the Word of God. However, I believe that for a full understanding of it, one must have it coupled with the Book of Mormon and other LDS canon. I believe that the Book of Mormon is written specifically for the latter days, and is indeed the most true book on Earth, but I would hesitate to say that it's on a different plain than the Bible, as they are both the Word of God. Do you maintain ties to your ancestors in any way? I'm not entirely sure what this question is asking but... I can certainly relate to my ancestors. And I am truly grateful for the sacrifices they made. Edward Partridge is the most well-known of my ancestors, but I feel a connection with all of them (once I've discovered them, of course). I love to learn about their lives and their stories. It gives me a new outlook for my own life. What teachings do you follow concerning marriage? I strongly desire to be married in the Temple. I feel that settling for anything but that would be a mockery towards my Father in Heaven, as I am fully capable of entering the temple and finding a wife who could do the same. Plus, I just can't imagine anything but eternal marriage. If love is forever, shouldn't the marriage be as well? What role does your faith play in your political views? As the church favors no political party, I maintain beliefs consistent with church doctrine while thinking through the issues for myself. Currently I am a moderate-liberal, so I don't really fall into the mold of the church's unofficial party. I really feel that when people think things through, they'll discover that their views are not tied to one party exclusively. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans have it all right, that's for sure. Do you support Mitt Romney? I haven't quite decided yet, but I'm leaning towards a "no." Do you have a family doctor? Nope.
  2. Mine (recently changed) is a moose in Island Park, Idaho. It was enjoying some underwater greens in a river, so I snapped a picture of it. :) I suppose the reason I'm using it is because I'm majoring in Wildlife Science. Seems appropriate.
  3. I've been trying to build up my Super Nintendo game collection via Ebay. Aside from that, I buy CD's I can't find anywhere else.
  4. Indeed I do like 80's music... I can't say I loved it at the time, though. I was born in '89. Here are my fav's: Husker Du Meat Puppets The Replacements Depeche Mode fIREHOSE Dinosaur Jr Rush Screaming Trees Guns N' Roses My Bloody Valentine Pixies R.E.M. Tears for Fears The Jesus and Mary Chain U2 ... I love 80's music. :) Though I don't care for the mainstream stuff too much...
  5. I love all animals. I just love some (cats) a heck of a lot more than others (dogs). And yes, I've owned both. I've had very good dogs and very good cats as well. But as of right now, I have four cats and no dogs, and I must say, life is quite enjoyable. :)
  6. I'm game.
  7. I know of one where a scene from the movie "8 mile" is used in conjunction with the Pokerap... it's funny, but you get flipped off a couple of times. There's the link if you don't mind the finger.

    High/low

Low: Taking my AP Literature test. Blah. High: Finishing my AP Literature test!
  9. I've been to LDS and Episcopal churches. My mom's side is mostly Episcopalian, so I ended up going to church with my great grandma when I was about 6. I think she was the oldest person in her congregation. I don't really remember anything about it, though, except for the sacrament being a little different. I intend to visit other churches in due time, however.

    Efy

I hope to go, as I'll be 18 this year and it'll be my last chance to do so. As for where...I really have no idea. I live in Northern Utah, so there are probably a number of places to choose from.
  11. I go to seminary during the school day because I live in Utah. Being my senior year, I've now had all the seminary teachers I'm going to have. My favorite was the one I had last semester, Brother McConkie (Bruce's nephew). He's the oldest seminary teacher at my school, but he's really funny (and immature, lol). Just a really great teacher with a million stories to tell and a very good sense of humor. I enjoyed his class thoroughly. That being said, I've never had a seminary teacher that I didn't like. The one I have now is good, but my class in general lacks the enthusiasm I've seen in past classes, so that kind of detracts from the experience a bit.
  12. Really? I thought it was too short. I was expecting a 50 hour game, but it only took me 30 hours to beat it. And it seemed to me that the last few dungeons fell a bit short compared to the earlier ones...or at least the stuff you had to do before entering the dungeons. Oh well. It was good overall.Hmm...have I posted in this topic before? I'll skip the intro because I think I have...
  13. I saw this movie during Sundance last year, after which Al Gore and the director came and did a Q & A. All I can say is that this movie was quite an eye-opener, and has ultimately led to me to decide to go into an environment-related major in college. I've also heard that some think it's just political nonsense spread by the democrats. I think that such an accusation is political nonsense in and of itself, as the evidence of the effects of global warming are quite obvious if you look in the right places (melting ice caps on some peaks, for example).
  14. Well, I worded it that way because of a certain scripture...(not sure which one; I'm terrible at remembering things like that). But I guess a different wording would be to try, try, try. We are all going to mess up, this is a fact. But if we pick ourselves up and continue on with an eye single to the glory of God, Christ's atoning sacrifice will cover us. We cannot earn our salvation. It is a gift from Christ, so long as we have faith (and not the dead kind, if you know what I mean).
  15. It's not really about knowing when you've worked enough, because in all honesty, we cannot work enough. We are saved by Christ's grace after all we can do. So do all you can do until the end of your days. We can never pay God back for all he's done for us, so working all of our days (this life is a time for us to work, after all) is the least we can do. As for heaven, it depends on what you mean. Are you referring to Spiritual Paradise or the Celestial Kingdom?
  16. I HATED that book SO MUCH! I had to read it TWICE! Lord of the Flies or East of Eden? If you had to read East of Eden twice, I feel sorry for you...
  17. #2. And yes, I decided before reading other people's posts .
  18. I just finished Lord of the Flies for English. I've also been reading East of Eden for a while (sort of). I keep taking breaks from it, so I haven't been getting very far into it as of late.
  19. The last CDs I bought were "Monsters" and "Golden Lies" by the Meat Puppets (I bought them together).
  20. The following are curses from my Grandma's family: "Patrick!" "Oh, for crout sake!" As for actual phrases, I can't think of any.
  21. Nevermind. :)
  22. There are many food items that do that, do you also avoid them for the same reason? M. I can't really think of any other food I eat that stains my teeth... but you've got a point with the bad breath. That's not my primary reason for not drinking it, of course (that would be the Word of Wisdom, obviously). I was mainly just adding to the reasons already listed.
  23. It gives you bad breath and stains your teeth. (reason enough for me)

    Love

maybee it is girl talk but dare i ask what is a premie? I looked it up... It has to do with pregnancy... Basically (my guess) NO SEX BEFORE MERRAIGE! That is not love though.. That is lust! LOL, no no no, a premie as in pre mission, utah talk i guess....i was datting a boy who hadnt left yet and now he is leaving in a few months and so we broke up....it was hard, so i was warning the young girls not to steady(sp) date a boy who hasnt left for his mission yet, because when he leaves its the hardest thing ever u dont want someone you love to leave you for 2 yrs but you know its right... Note: Desire has it right too, there is a word they call babys born way to early and thats premie too, but that was not the term i was using. Oooooh... I was thinking premie as in someone who was born premature. I was wondering what was so bad about dating someone like that... Thanks for the clarification!
  25. Weeeeird, I just barely looked that up, and then I come here and there it is again! Regardless, funny stuff indeed. Except for the hunting holiday stuff, most of it I've seen before.
